Making a poetry book allows a writer to have a hard copy compilation of all their poems. I am passionate about writing and reading poetry because it is therapeutic to me. Intertwining written words with a form of art makes for a truly creative poetry book. Writing poetry allows me to create a piece of artwork while emptying my emotions on paper.
Personalizing my poetry book makes it even more valuable to me. It is a piece of me that will someday be history. Leaving something for my great, great grandchildren of the future to see a glimpse of who I was.
Add Artwork
Add artwork to your book, if you enjoy art. If the paper is thin, you will want to use drawing paper or card stock, then glue it into the book with a glue stick. This can also be done with rubber stamps or cutting pictures out of magazines. Your imagination is your only limitation.
For some of my most heartfelt poetry read A Dark Shakespearean Sonnet: Black Rose or Villanelle: Crystalline Tears Water Garden Thorns of Emerald.

Supplies:
- Lined notebook with a non-gloss cover, such as the owl notebook I purchased from Target.
- Craft glue
- White marker (acid free)
- Glitter markers or glitter pens
- Buttons (I used 2 centimeter buttons)
- Gel pens
Directions:
- With the white marker, create a snow effect on objects such as trees.
- With the glitter markers, glitter pens or gel pens fill in circles, lines and other shapes.
- Glue buttons in appropriate places, such as the middle of flowers.
- Write your poems on the lined paper, using gel pens.
- As an alternative to writing your poems, you can print them, then use a glue stick to attach them to the paper. I prefer writing because it in itself is a form of art. In addition, each stroke of the pen releases stress, just as squeezing a stress ball does.
In the same way you can make a poetry book for yourself, you can also make one as a gift for a friend, family member or loved one. The book can be used as a journal or memory book, rather than a poetry book if desired.

This is such great advice! I have my own poetry book and so did my sister who is now at home with the Lord. When I read her poems it is like she is right here with me! It is so great to have something to leave family to remember you by. I am in the process of making a CD of the songs I have written and sing. By the way, you have so many very interesting articles, but, I am frustrated that AC will not include a comment section for Medical articles! I loved your article about medical mistakes and also the one on Alzheimer's! You are such a talented writer!
This is a very clever idea and a way to be fondly remembered by family and friends. Love it.
Sounds like a beautiful and creative project.Yhanks for the tip.

Nice
I started when I was in middle school. Mom kept it all these years. I get a good laugh out of it but my daughter thinks it is so cool.
