Things Needed for Your Sugar Cube Pyramid:
200+ sugar cubes (More or less depending on the size of your pyramid - 200 will make one that is 10 sugar cubes wide)
Piece of Cardboard, Ruler, and Pencil
Glue (Regular school glue works fine, but you can use more heavy duty glue if you prefer)
Spray Paint, and Spray Glitter for decorating your sugar cube pyramid once it is finished!
How to Assemble Your Sugar Cube Pyramid:
Assembling your pyramid is relatively simple to do following these steps below:
1. Using a ruler and pencil, draw a light square on the cardboard. You will want to make each line of the square is about 10 sugar cubes long. This line will help make sure you keep your sugar cubes straight while assembling your pyramid.
2. Take each sugar cube and spread a little bit of glue on the bottom. Line 10 sugar cubes on each line of the square you drew to create the base of the pyramid. Be sure that the cubes or straight, or else it will be more difficult as you get to the top of the pyramid.
3. Once your base of the pyramid is completed, you will want to start on the second row. The second row is made by using 9 cubes for each side of the square and placing them slightly inward from the first row. (About half the length of the sugar cube - but make sure your sugar cube is on the first cube that it stays in place!) Again, use glue on the bottom of each sugar cube to make sure it does not fall.
4. Continue repeating each row of the sugar cube pyramid. Each row should be one less sugar cube than the previous row. (For example, the base rows are made from 10 sugar cubes, then the next one is 9 sugar cubes, then 8 sugar cubes, then 7, then 6, and so on.)
5. Top the pyramid with one single sugar cube.
6. The final and last step is one of the most fun parts about building a sugar cube pyramid - you can decorate it any way you'd like! You can choose to spray paint it or use a varnish to seal it. Once it is spray painted, you can then add gold glitter or other embellishments to make your pyramid look like an authentic pyramid. If you do not have to keep it realistic looking for a school project, you can get creative and use various colors and different embellishments.
7. Optional: Add scenery to your pyramid! You can add palm trees, sand (spread a thin layer of glue on the cardboard and then spread sand across it), or other things to give your pyramid some character and personality.
Enjoy making your sugar cube pyramids! If you have any other ideas on how to make a pyramid out of sugar cubes or other materials for school projects and just for fun, share them in the comments below!
