Now, to make Scrapbook or Photo album out of a License plate You Will need:
One license Plate
One Piece of Foam Board
Hole Punch
Tapestry Needle (optional)
Twine or Ribbon (about 1 yard)
Heavy construction paper or photo album page inserts
Photos
Photo Corners (optional)
Glue Stick (optional)
Scissors
Ruler
Ok, the first step is to measure how wide and tall you license plate is. Now, cut you foam board to the exact same size. You can buy sheets of foam board at the art supply store or an arts and crafts store. I have also seen it in super centers in the school section. A sheet should cost you about $2.
Now, you can try poking to holes in this foam board with your hole punch. They should match up to the two screw holes in your license plate. Now, I find it easier to poke a thick tapestry needle through the foam board first. Then work it around in the hole. Now, try using the hole punch; it will be a lot easier.
Now, for the inserts you have a few options. You can use heavy duty construction paper cut to the same size as your license plate. In this case you would apply your photos with the glue stick or the picture corners. This is a fun option of you want ot write any info about the photograph on the construction paper, sort of lie a caption. You can also ad artistic details and clip art this way. Just think of it like a page in a scrap book.
Now, you could also use those photo album page inserts Go ahead and by the 8"X10" inch sized photo album inserts. Now, use your measurement of how long and wide the license plate is to cut them down to size.
Tip: Be sure to cut off the end that has the pre made holes. Keep the inside edge whether the plastic is attached to the page. If you cut off the inside edge your photo insert page will fall apart. You plastic protective sheet will also not stay on as well.
Now, on you new edge, where the plastic lifts up you will want to peal up the protective plastic sheeting. Use your ruler to help you cut a straight line and remove about ½ to 1 inch in of the plastic. Do this on both sides of the plastic photo album inert sheet.
Repeat this on allow of your photo album pages. The thing I like about this license plate scrapbook photo album is that you can make it as thick as you want!
Now, whether you used construction paper or photo album inserts I recommend using some of those round hole protectors. Get some in a matching color and go ahead and put them to both sides. The ribbon or twine that holds this photo album together can be rough. You can also imagine that a lot of people are gonna pick up this interesting license plate off of you coffee table and want to see how you made it.
Now, go ahead and insert all you photos, clip art, caption, and whatevers.
Lay the foam board down first, and then top it with the insert pages, then top of off with the license plate. Now, insert you twine or ribbon through each hole. Tie them off on the outside of the scrapbook photo album. You're finished!
