Welcome 21st Century...

I am an internet aficionado and last year I had my best ever year. There was a mass of entertainment brought about by the infancy of online gaming revolution. '07 was a year when everyone loathed school for there was Ragnarok and '08 gave us DOTA and a lot more. That was too entertaining after all.

But imagine how kind of the internet to have given us social networking sites. Facebook, Friendsters, Myspace, Bebo, Tagged, Multiply, Buzznet... I thought the explosion of these sites would be terrible! Or maybe not?! Well, this sense took me a whole year of peace.

Me-medias, The IT term for anyone's online solace as Facebook and Myspace as examples where everyone could be expressing too much about themselves, have provided any number of ways to interact and connect with people from any places around the world. Two-thirds of the World's internet population uses social networking sites to find and keep in touch with friends, family and like-minded users. But could we all be sharing a little too much as suddenly everyone became addicted and wants to dig on it every once in a while? Compulsion too has turned everyone an expert who wants to spout an opinion that instead of merely reading, casts a vote for the most interesting item or how much one "dugg" them or how much one liked to "buzz" them up or how pleasant or ill one's words could get to acknowledge others' sharing.

Well, it still feels good that one can do something for the needy - of attention. And yet, truthfully, I was so impressed these sites are far from being the exclusive domain of tech-savvy Generation Y-ers: there are plenty of older enthusiasts who lead an active cyber life. Good for the older ones who share best on twitter as they tweet on their profiles providing a blow-by-blow account of their day. Just like how you did on yours today.

Regardless, my love of the internet has waned. It's taking too much from me, too much of me. I became very dependent to its applications which make life easier and convenient everyday. I thought of the early years when computers pleased us with outputs, today, the trend turned the other way around. We're the ones making the inputs. Unknowingly, we're being consumed. And the compensation, either fame or blame and nothing like money from much.

Anyway, I still have great news to continue your day.

Instead of letting the internet abuse your addiction, let your addiction abuse it. I love the internet half way. I log on first thing in the morning to get into my tweets, my walls and my bulletins. They're the most helpful applications in spreading my contents. Well, this part might come to you unclear though you've been comfortably telling people through networking sites a lot about you. It doesn't matter if one is a crap. That's absolutely information you input. Now, why limit the internet for communication and information purposes if you yourself can inject something on it and subsequently earn. What about the tagging thing? To tag is the process of making up specific word or words to label any content precise identity to be sorted out in the web for further viewing and use. What's with finding your dissertation on top of the list and requires the view of somebody from afar? Well, you could have shared a lot if you knew some of these just a while ago.

Like anything thing else man invents, the Internet can be used for good or abused. You can be a friend to someone who needs a friend, and you can network to get a job. But, like you say, it's bad to be addicted and to let your computer take over your whole life. As far as using tag words to get hits on articles, that's way too sophesticated for my little pea brain. Keep up the good writing.
