GLASS BOWL: First you will need to get a large glass bowl. You could also use a large plastic punch bowl, if you are worried about it getting knocked over and broken. Whatever bowl you choose to use, make sure it is clear to see the content inside of it and be sure it is large, about the size of a punch bowl. It could be a little smaller than a punch bowl if you wish, or you could make several small versions of the centerpiece to be set around in different places in your home and make one large version to set on your table to bring the look all together.
PINE CONES: For the pine cones, you will want to collect several large and small pine cones, enough to fill your bowl completely to the top. You could collect them from your yard or go to a craft store and buy your pine cones. Also, get some spray glitter from the craft store and some small pieces of garland to place throughout the bowl with the pine cones. You may also want to get some holly and berries if you prefer to use them instead of garland. You will also need a short strand of Christmas lights.
PUT IT ALL TOGETHER: The first step to putting together your pine cone centerpiece is to spray your pine cones with the glitter. You may want to do this outside or in the garage. Spray the pine cones generously with glitter, so that they sparkle and shine. Gold glitter generally shows up better than red or green. Then you can lightly spray the inside of the bowl with glitter, if you would like. Next, you will start filling the bowl once the glitter has dried. First place the "female" end of the light strand in the bowl, then start placing some pine cone in the bowl. You can fill in between the lights and pine cone with a little bit of garland or holly and berries if you wish. Keep arranging the bowl back and forth with lights and then pine cones and garland and repeat the process until the bowl is full. Make sure that the lights can be seen from the outside of the bowl so that they will shine through and light up the centerpiece. Once you have finished filling the bowl it is ready to be displayed. Place it on your table or end table or anywhere you would like where there is a plug in near by. Plug it in and enjoy your beautiful pine cone Christmas centerpiece all season long.
If you want to keep the centerpiece for the next year you could glue the pieces into place as you go.
