Make Up Tips for Humid Summer Days

Rebecca Furtado
Is your face ready to endure the dog days of the end of the summer? Our skin is exposed to rain, sun, pollution, and wind. The cold of the winter and the humidity of the summer effect how our skin produces natural oil and sheds of dead skin cells. The summer months are the best time to appear a little more bear faced to the world .

To prepare your skin for the day buy a non abrasive wash that is gentle enough for your skin type. Just put a small amount in a moist wash cloth and gently use circular motions to clean your face. Most terry cloth wash clothes will provide enough ex-foliation for your skin. Rinse you face with warm, not hot water. If the water is too hot you are simply turning your face red and damaging your skin. You should concentrate on areas that tend to be rough like your chin and nose. After you have washed your face pat it dry with a soft towel.

Next, you will want to use toner for your skin type. If you have very dry skin you will want a non drying toner .If you have acne you will want more that is made to treat that condition. You use toner to close your pores. Toner will also help remove any dirt and oil you missed when you washed your face. Apply toner with a cotton ball avoiding the sensitive eye areas. Toner should not be rinsed off as it dries almost instantly the moment you apply it.

Finally, you should apply moisturizer with an SPF 15 to protect your skin under your make up. If you have oily skin you will want to apply an oil free moisturizer. In the more humid months you will want to use a very light moisturizer. This is so the excess moisture from the added humidity does not cause your foundation to wear off too quickly.

Your face now is ready for your foundation. Many women find that powder foundation looks more natural and blends better than liquid foundation. If you feel you need extra coverage; use a stick foundation product to conceal blemishes, age spots, and dark circles under your eyes. You simply then will blend your loose powder foundation on top on the concealer. This will give you a nice matte finish. Keep a smaller brush and container of your powder in your purse for quick touch ups during the day.

Most women in the summer months wear less make up. If you tan , you might need a darker powder foundation . If you don't tan sometimes a little bronzing powder applied with your powder foundation can give you that sun kissed look. A little touch of powder blush and a light shade of lipstick is usually enough make up for everyday summer wear. If you want to accent your eyes use a light application of waterproof mascara and a neutral eye color. We all sweat in the summer. Many women find wearing less make up is the way to go; during the warmest weeks of summer.
