Below are a few tips that can help you to apply your make up with confidence.
Apply your foundation with your fingers, not a sponge, sponges leave too much foundation on the skin which settles into fine lines and pores making them look more visible.
Try to avoid heavy pan sticks or overly thick foundations, these will emphasise every fine line and wrinkle.
Opt for lighter, liquid foundations with a subtle shimmer in them, these will help create an even, radiant base and reflect the light.
Apply a little highlighter onto your browbone and cheekbones, this will help define your bone structure and add a little radiance.
Avoid blusher that is too dark, this will drag your whole face down and settle into fine lines, try a lighter cream blusher for a more subtle, natural look.
Use a liquid liner to draw a thin line just above your top lashes, this will make them look much thicker.
Powder eyeshadows will highlight wrinkles and crepey eyelids, stick to cream eyeshadows in lighter colours such as peaches and light to mid browns, these will elp avoid eyeshadow gathering and creasing and they will lift your face.
There are many different foundations available now, and I would highly recommend the ones specifically formulated for mature skin, they have ingredients that are designed to help firm the skin and give you a temporarily lifted look.
Glosses are more flattering than lipsticks for mature skin, but don't use too much, it will settle into any lip wrinkles and highlight them. Try coloured glosses and apply with your finger for a more even, natural look.
Define your eyebrows with a pencil the same shade as your brows, do not use a darker shade.
Black eyeliner will accentuate under eye bags and fine lines, stick to shades like brown, green and lilac, these will bring out your eyes and flatter your face.
When applying mascara, don't forget to coat your bottom lashes, this will really make your eyes stand out.
