Valentine's Day is coming, what better way to celebrate this lovely, sweet holiday than by doing some crafts that make some great gifts! Here is an easy craft that adults or children will enjoy that you can make a vintage Valentine's day pin. It is the perfect gift for family members, friends, teachers and coworkers.

To make this craft you will need:

vintage valentines

flat wooden circles - about three inches wide, in circle or oval shape

red, pink, white or gold craft paint

foam brushes (at least two)

decoupage glue, one glue I've used before is called Modge Podge

pin back for the pin

hot glue gun and glue sticks

Begin by laying out newspapers to protect the surface. Lay out the rest of your materials.

Look at the vintage Valentines. See which images and words that you like. See which ones fit onto the wooden circle or oval. Start to create the Valentine pin. Once you start to look at the vintage Valentines you'll really start to get ideas. Just put the Valentines together and ideas will come to you. Once you have something you like, cut the pieces out.

Paint the wooden oval or circle in the color that you have chosen. Gold is one of my favorites, because it looks so nice with so many of the vintage Valentines. But pink can look very sweet. Red is a great classic, and white can make a nice background too. A lot of what color you choose can depend on the images you have selected. Paint the wooden object with two coats and put it to the side to dry. It should take about twenty minutes or so to dry. Once it is dry you can put your vintage Valentines on it.

If your wooden object is dry, take your vintage Valentines and put a thin layer of glue on the wooden object and glue then vintage Valentines to it. Then put two layers of glue over the vintage Valentine. Let this dry. This will probably take a bit longer than twenty minutes to dry. Once it is dry, you can put the pin back on.

Put the pin back on with the hot glue gun. Use a small dot of hot glue. Press the pin back on with the tip of your finger, careful not to touch the glue. Hold it for the count of ten seconds. Lay the pin flat to let the glue dry (I know there is a lot of drying with this project).

Once the glue is dry your vintage Valentine pin is ready for gift giving, or you can wear it yourself. A very sweet idea for Valentine's day!
