If your sofa is out of style, stained, or you're just tired of looking at the same pattern, follow these tips and learn how to makeover your sofa in a few quick steps. Whether you use all of the inexpensive sofa makeover ideas listed here, or only use a few, you can get a brand new looking sofa for very little money.

There are several ways you to get an inexpensive sofa makeover. To begin with, examine what it is about your sofa that you don't like. Is it drab and dull looking? Is it stained, ripped, or torn? Perhaps you've decided that the color you picked out just doesn't work. Regardless, there are things you can do to bring new life to your existing sofa for very little money.

Makeover your sofa with pillows - If your sofa just looks....boring, you can simply add colorful throw pillows that coordinate with the color in your couch. If you have a solid colored sofa, give it new life by adding bold and colorful decorative throw pillows. If you can't afford to buy expensive pillows, buy inexpensive ones and recover them with a bold fabric. You don't know have to know how to sew, just firmly press the fabric over the pillows and use double-sided tape to hold it in place. No one will ever seen the backs of the pillows, so it doesn't matter!

Makeover your sofa with a slipcover - If your sofa is stained, ripped, or torn, you will need to recover it. Slipcovers provide a very inexpensive sofa makeover, and they will bring new life (and a brand new look) to your existing sofa. Look for slipcovers that come in two pieces, one for the top and one for the bottom, to ensure the best fit.

Makeover your sofa with a duvet cover - If the only part of your sofa that looks bad is the cushions, try using a queen-size duvet cover to hide them. Duvet covers are fun to use in place of slipcovers, because they come in fabulous prints and patterns. Simply slide the sofa cushions into the duvet cover and zip or button close. Return the cushions to the couch and tuck in any excess fabric.

Makeover your sofa for under $ 20.00 - Use a fleece furniture cover, which will look nice and make your sofa soft and inviting. This is the ultimate inexpensive sofa makeover, because it will cost you less than $ 20.00 to put together. Add a few decorative pillows, and you're done!

Makeover your sofa into more pieces (sectionals only) - If you have a sectional, you've probably found that it makes the room look smaller and takes up a lot of living space. Here's a quick way to makeover your sofa and free up some space too. When sectionals are delivered to your home, they come in multiple pieces. So...it would only make sense that they can be taken apart and 'regrouped' into more than one piece. Carefully flip over the furniture and find where the pieces fit together. Unscrew the connections and spread out the furniture! Consider covering one or two of the pieces with new slipcovers or duvet covers, and leaving another as is. You can also relocate the pieces into different areas of the home.

Good tips but I've never had luck with couch covers. Never could find them to fit.

My old couch, which I love, because it unfolds into a queen size bed, is so old, it NEEDS a makeover. Thanks for the tips.

Love these ideas. Still no electricity in my office so I can only tap into the computer when everything else is off on the other side of the house which has electricity. Sorry I am behind. It's also hard to type in the dark. I'm not very good at it. Ha!
