Makers Mark to Host 6th Annual Thoroughbreds and Redheads Weekend in Kentucky

Keenland Racetrack in Lexington Kentucky begins its spring meet horse racing in April and legendary bourbon producers, Makers Mark, will be right in the heat of the action hosting their 6th annual Thoroughbreds and Redheads weekend beginning Friday, April 13.

1840 notes the beginning of the Maker's Mark history, but it was 1958 when the first bottle of Maker's Mark Whiskey was dipped, sealed, and introduced in it distinctive red wax jacket. In 1980, the Maker's Mark distillery in Loretto, KY was declared a National Historic Landmark by the U.S. Secretary of the Interior, and today, the distillery underwent expansions in the new millennium to accommodate its popularity.

Thoroughbreds and Redheads weekend is an exclusive Maker's Mark Ambassador event. Those interested in applying to be Maker's Mark Ambassadors will find more information at www.makersmark.com In addition to receiving invitations to special events such as The Thoroughbreds and Redheads weekend, Maker's Mark Ambassadors also enjoy a variety of other privileges including special mailings.

The Thoroughbreds and Redheads weekend gathers Maker's Mark Ambassadors from around to the globe to participate in special racing events at and nearby the Keenland Racetrack. Activities begin with check-in at noon and races from 1:15 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. EST at the Keenland Race course. Keenland tickets are already sold out, but open seating (bring your folding chair!) are open on he race course apron. Participants are encouraged to arrive early to claim a seat.

Visitors will enjoy 11th annual Maker's Mark Mile on Friday, April 13 as well as an annual after party hosted in downtown Lexington. The party includes $2 Maker's drinks, complimentary hors d'oeuvres, and random door prize drawings. Seating is limited and a Maker's Mark Ambassador RSVP pass is required for entry.

Continuing the festivities on Saturday, April 14, Maker's Mark Ambassadors will be invited to the Maker's Mark Distillery for breakfast, coffee, and a tour at the annual Maker's Mark Ambassador get-together. Bottling lines will be open for aspiring dippers and Ambassadors will have the opportunity to dip their very own 375 ml bottle. Check in begins at noon and the event will run from noon to 5 p.m. EST.
