Makeup Beauty Tip #1 Conceal Your Blemish Correctly

Concealing a Blemish

Isabelle E.
Have you ever had a nasty blemish that even your liquid or mineral foundation do not cover up? Have you used all kinds of concealers to try to cover it but find that it is still showing through? The problem is that liquid foundation, mineral powders, and concealers tend to have light to medium coverage. So if you have a red irritated pimple those products will not be enough to conceal it. Concealers that are lighter or darker than your skin tone just make that blemish stand out even more. This is the easiest method to use to ensure you cover up that blemish completely.

Supplies Needed:

-Cream or Stick Foundation (must match your skin tone exactly)
-Small Concealer Brush or Wet Cosmetic Sponge
-Pressed or loose setting powder

If you have applied your foundation and still have a blemish that needs coverage do the following:

1. Use a cream or stick foundation that matches your skin tone perfectly. The cream or stick foundations are a bit thicker and give better coverage for small spots. Matching it exactly is key because if you use a concealer that is lighter than your skin tone it will draw even more attention to the blemish.

2. Pick up a small amount of the product with your concealer brush. Using small amounts at a time will allow you to layer the product without it getting cakey. With a concealer brush apply the foundation on the blemish using small gentle patting strokes. Don't rub the product in with your fingers thats just going to take it off and defeat the purpose of covering the blemish.

3. After you have applied enough to cover the spot blend the edges around where your applied the concealer. You can use the concealer brush to blend or a small corner of a cosmetic sponge. Blend around the blemish and not directly on it so you do not remove the product. Matching the foundation you use to your skin tone perfectly makes blending easier.

4. Lastly, set the area with a pressed or loose powder that either matches your skin tone or is translucent to keep the foundation locked in and lasting all day. If you use mineral foundation use this concealer method before applying the minerals. Remember to use liquids or creams first then powders.

5. Step back and see that blemish disappear before your very eyes!
