Makeup Don'ts

Applying makeup is a tricky job. A simple shade of pink can suit a person however; the same color can make a person look hideous. Makeup changes how a person look hence one has to be very careful when applying makeup. Here are some common mistakes made that women tend to make which I read from the magazine and wanted to share with everyone else.

Heavy Base:too much base gives a very artificial and painted look. Base should be applied to give a smooth and a natural look. If applied skillfully can help to hide flaws.

Wrong shade of base: can simply make your face ultra white or may be very dark. Hence giving an unnatural look. Many women make the mistake of choosing a makeup foundation shade that is too dark for their skin in an attempt to give their skin a tanned look. It's important to come as close to matching your natural skin tone as possible.

Wrong eye shade: Many women choose harsh, shiny shades of eye shadow in light pastel colors which does little to give the eye dimension and can look harsh, particularly under a bright light. A better choice is a deeper shade of eye color in a matte tone.

Harsh eyeliner: Many women apply a stark, black line under the lower lashes only which gives an unnatural, harsh appearance. If you are going to apply liner to the lower lid, you should apply it to the upper lids to add balance and it also won't make eyes look empty.

Applicator Problems: The applicator must be smooth to blend the makeup properly.

Wrong Lip color: Those who have discolored or yellow teeth should avoid dark lip colors as it would draw attention to the teeth. Also make sure the lip liner blends with the lipstick. If the lip liner does not exactly match then use a lighter shade instead of a darker one.

Too much blush, in the wrong color or wrong spot: Blush should be applied to the apple of the cheeks with upward strokes. Try using a big brush to spread color evenly.

Using Expired Cosmetics: Make up has shelf life like any other product. Cream based foundations should be changed after every 2 years where as mascara and liner should be changed after 4 months. Nail polishes and lip stick can live longer if stored in the fridge.

Going to sleep with makeup on: natural freshness and beauty of the skin would be lost if makeup not removed as the skin needs to breathe as well.
