Let's take a look at Almay's Intense i-Color Liquid Eyeliner (03 Black Pearl). During this review we will take a look at the packaging, texture, color, and application life.
NOTE: I have personally tested all makeup products I review.
Packaging: ***** (5 stars of 5)
I love the packaging of this liquid eyeliner. It has a wide face and thinned out top which makes it easy to use, because the base is wear the liner liquid is and you can set it down and use it much like a paint bucket. The top portion of the container is the handle and brush. The brush tip is very fine at the tip which is good because it makes thinner lines. This product is very compact and you can put it in a pocket, purse, makeup bag, and so forth with ease.
Texture: *** (3 stars of 5)
The texture is good, but it's a little on the runny side which makes application a little more difficult. If you wipe of the tip of the brush before applying to your eyes, you don't really have to worry about it being a little runny because this will get most of the excess of the tip. Once dry, this product doesn't go looking for wrinkles or crevices, but you have to be carful during the drying process because if you blink too much or touch it, it will run everywhere. This liner is not heavy feeling at all.
Color: **** (4 stars of 5)
I do like the coloring of this liner, but it tends to smooth into a grayish color. To avoid the gray color, you have to put on more liner. A lot of people, including me at first, simply add a little more liner liquid to the brush and apply it, but then you have to deal with it running everywhere while it tries to dry. To avoid this problem - only put a little liner on the brush at a time and go over where you would like to line, let the liner dry, put on another light coat, and so on until you get the coloring you would like. The Black Pearl color can go pretty dark, maybe not black-black, but almost on that level - you just need to add a couple layers.
Application Life: **** (4 stars of 5)
The life of liquid eyeliners don't seem to be very long in general, but this liner did last about 7 hours before I saw fading. If you apply a primer, concealer, and light powder over your eyelid (or wherever you apply this liner) it will help absorb skin oils that make the liner run. This will increase the life of the liner. This eyeliner is not waterproof.
All-in-all, a good liquid eyeliner for a good price. This product received an overall rating of 4.3 stars (read on to find out why this product received this rating): the bad - runs a little if you aren't careful and the color is a little faded if you don't apply a couple coats; the good - nice packaging, impressive application life, and a nice coloring after a couple layers.
