Let's take a peek at Almay's Smart Shade Blush (Pink/Rose). During this review we will focus on packaging, texture, application life, and color.
NOTE: I have personally tested all makeup products I review.
Packaging: ***** (5 stars of 5)
Smart Shade Blush (Pink/Rose) comes in a semi-long, plump little plastic tubing. This tubing is much like a toothpaste tube, but smaller. The screw on and off cap comes on and off very easily and goes back on very easily. There is a small hole for the product to come through which is an A+ because you only need a small amount of product to get the job down and if the hole were bigger you would simply get too much, waste product, and make a mess. Almay made sure to pack the tube completely full with product and didn't skimp out.
Texture: ***** (5 stars of 5)
Very, very nice texture; not too moist and not too dry. Smart Shade Blush has a cream texture but it is very light weight and once you apply it, you don't feel it unlike other liquid blushes that give you the feeling as if you are wearing a mask. This blush does not sink into wrinkles and amplify them. Now it doesn't skip over wrinkles and leave you with an uneven skin tone, but it goes into the wrinkles and can be smoothed out easily without building.
Application life: **** (4 stars of 5)
When it comes down to application life, I do with there was a little more. Almay Smart Shade Blush seems to dull down after the 2 hour mark and completely fade by the 4 hour mark. This isn't a very big problem with Smart Shade Blush because it is so easy to apply, you can do it pretty much anywhere in a matter of seconds for touch-ups.
Color:
The color of pink/rose is very subtle and doesn't look fake at all. But I wanted to make sure it was like this with a range of skin tones. I tried it out on a friend with very fair skin, and she got a light pink tint; I tried it on myself (I have medium skin) and I got a darker shade of pink but it blended perfectly with my skin. The shade matching definitely works! If you want that "first kiss" type of blush and you have fair to tan skin - this is the way to go. You can build the coloring a little, as well, if you add an extra coat.
All-in-all, a great blushing product with very little downsides. This product has received an overall rating of 4.5 stars (read on to find out why this product was given this rating): The bad - Doesn't last as long as most people would like; the good - compact, easy to apply, goes on evenly and smoothly, looks very natural, superb texture, and excellent skin tone match coloring.
