Makeup Product Review: Jane's Shimmer Bronzer: Fiji

S
Wasting money on worthless makeup products is a downer. There is nothing more depressing, in the beauty world, than buying a makeup product that does nothing but bad for you. That's why I am here. I test literally hundreds of makeup products each year and report the findings back to you. It is my hope to help save you some heartache and money.

Right now we are going to take a look at one of Jane's Shimmer Bronzers: Fiji. During this review we are going to take a look at the packaging, texture, color, coverage, and application life.

NOTE: I have personally tested all makeup products I review.

Packaging: **** (4 stars of 5)

I really like the packaging Jane offers the Shimmer Bronzer: Fiji. It's a circle casing with a clear-plastic flip open top. When you flip the casing upside down, there is another flip open lid. This lid has a personal mirror on the inside and a brush. Both flip open lids lock so you don't have to worry about the product getting everywhere. I do not like the brush that is provided! I have no idea what to call this brush other than worthless! The brush is skinny, flat, and very rough. I through the brush away and used a normal powder brush. Overall - a compact casing and easy to handle on the go.

Texture: **** (4 stars of 5)

The texture is much like other pressed powders. It has a smooth, light weight feel to it once applied to the skin. What I do not like about this bronzer, you get a powder like residue on your skin. You can eliminate this residue by dampening a Kleenex with water and lightly brushing the Kleenex over the areas you used the bronzer on. Also, if you use a primer under the bronzer, you won't get that dust appearance over your skin.

Color: ***** (5 stars of 5)

There are three colors to this bronzer: extremely light golden color, medium brown, and dark brown. Each color is located separately from each other. There's a checker board appearance to the makeup because each color has its own square. You can use these colors for different purposes. The light can be used as a highlighter, the medium brown can be used for all over color, and the dark brown can be used as a contour color. If you want that bronze appearance, use all the colors together. This bronzer has a light amount of shimmer to it, so it's not too overwhelming. Unlike some other bronzers, Fiji does not have an orange appearance. This is not a dark bronze, but you get more of a darker tan. Use this bronzer lightly and you will get a very natural tan look.

Coverage: ***** (5 stars of 5)

This is a bronzer, not a foundation, so the coverage is light. You can apply a couple coats to darken the color, but you won't get a caked on appearance. If you are expecting this to cover freckles, moles, or other blemishes - don't because it won't. If you want a summer glow - Fiji will give it to you.

Application life: **** (4 stars of 5)

The application life is about average. You get approximately 5 hours of full life. After the five hour mark - you start to notice fading. The nice thing about this bronzer is it can be applied easily. If you start to see a little fading in color or just want a little extra security in knowing the color will stay, simply sweep a little over the areas you would like to have color. There are no big tricks and such with this bronzer.

All-in-all, if you want a healthy glow to your skin, you may want to try Jane's Shimmer Bronze: Fiji. This product received an overall rating of 4.4 stars of 5 (read on to find out why this product was given this rating): the bad - average application life, horrible brush, and powder like residue; the good - compact casing, multi-use colors, good bronzing color, and nice even coverage.
