Makeup Product Review: MAC Eye Shadows

TommiH
Hey there everyone! Today we are going to talk about a product that comes from a cosmetic line I have just started trying. Let's take a look at MAC Cosmetics Eye Shadow. During this review we will discuss the packaging, texture, coloring, and application life.

Let's get started!

Packaging:

Alright, there generally is not much to talk about when it comes down to the products casing; same in this situation. MAC Eye Shadows come in a heavy-duty black plastic casing with a circular body. The lid flips up and down with a little latch on the front to hold it in place.

The casing is a little bulky but OK. They can still easily be stored away in a makeup bag or purse.

Coloring:

I really, really love MAC's color collection. It's very disappointing when you find an eye shadow you like and there is not much selection available. MAC has a very large range of eye shadow colors available. There are actually 132 colors available! Yes, that's a lot.

Whether the color is shimmer, semi-shimmer, or matte depends on the color you pick out. The mattes and shimmers are mixed in with each other and you would have to read the color description to see if the color is matte or has shimmer.

A lot of the eye shadows that are shimmer have a lot of shimmer in them. Other shimmers have just the right amount for a "going-out" look - not too intense but still bring out the sparkle in your eyes.

Texture:

All of MAC Cosmetic's eye shadows are very silky smooth to the touch and glide onto the lid. These eye shadows are all pressed powder. If you would like to receive less of a powder look and more color pigment, I would suggest using an eye lid primer to get you started.

Application life:

These eye shadows really do last a long time. I got approx. 7 hours of full wear from my shadows. Now take into consideration that I used these eye shadows to create a look (not just apply one shadow and call it a day), but there were multiple shadows on and I had applied a strong primer underneath to hold onto the look.

When wearing a single shadow color from this collection without a primer, I got approx. 5 hours of full wear (which isn't too bad). Is it the best? No. But it's good.

All-in-all, this is a good product. It is very pricey, coming in at $14.50 US dollars, but a good product to have on hand. If you are a makeup artists looking for a new cosmetic line for your eye shadow collection, I would go for MAC eye shadows. If you are a beginner or you just like eye shadow, I would still recommend this product to you. They are very enjoyable shadows to work with and worth the money.

You can find this eye shadow at www.maccosmetics.com for $14.50/each.
