Makeup Product Reviews: NARS Illuminator

When shopping at Sephora recently, I had the great opportunity of discovering the NARS Illuminator. This great addition to NARS cosmetics guarantees that it works for multiple purposes, but glides onto the skin, promoting vibrant, yet moisturized skin, as well as, chic shine. I have been in search of a great luminizing product for a long time, so I decided to try the product.

PROS

The NARS Illuminator guarantees to be a multifunctional face product that works to create luminosity that is understated and unpretentious. The moment you try this product, you will definitely understand why it lives up to it's marketed promise.

Is natural always better? If you are one that embraces this concept, you are definitely going to love the NARS Illuminator. Although this product is pigmented, it's sheer and light. You can build color, if necessary, however; you only need a moderate amount. If you feel that less is better, you will find the NARS Illuminator fantastic.

If you are anything like me, you can appreciate a product that is incredibly long-lasting. The NARS Illuminator does not melt, let alone smudge or fade. If you use this product after your favorite priming product, you can expect it to last for hours upon hours.

The shades available in this product are fantastic and incredibly flexible. "Copacabana" is the lightest shade, which is a stunning glossy, yet shimmering pearl. "Laguna" is the darkest shade and is more of a brown with golden shimmer. Out of all of the shades, this shade represents more of a sheer bronzer with pearl effects. "Orgasm" which is beautiful peachy pink with natural shimmer, returns to prove why it is one of NARS best selling names and "Super Orgasm" (my personal favorite) is a gorgeous peachy pink with gold shimmer. Whatever your skin type, whatever your skin tone, out of these four shades alone, you are destined to find a shade that fits your skin tone.

Although this product is not organic, it does possess an array of natural ingredients that work together to make this product awesome. Everything from Polar Berries (Raspberry, Black Currant, etc) to Panthenol (Vitamin B5) and more.

CONS

If you are looking for a luminizing product that is intense and possesses full coverage rather than light, you are not going to like the NARS Illuminator. The NARS Illuminator is subtle, yet sheer and light and is only good for those looking for natural luminosity rather than heavy vibrancy.

Despite containing 1.2 oz. of product for $29, if you are one that doesn't find that reasonable for a luminizing product, then I do not believe you would find the NARS Illuminator appealing.

NARS cosmetics rarely fail to disappoint. Despite some minor discrepancies with the vastly underrated cosmetic line, I feel that the strengths outweigh the weaknesses. The NARS Illuminator can be purchased for only $29 at Sephora or your nearest NARS retailer. Would I recommend the NARS Illuminator? Most definitely. Would I use this product again? Absolutely.
