Makeup Remover: Pond's Clean Sweep Cleansing Towelettes Vs. Neutrogena Make-up Remover Towelettes

Let's face it...every woman worries about her appearance. Especially her face. Sure, we all want to take care of our skin and do what keeps it healthy, but despite the many reports of how bad keeping your makeup on while you sleep is, we all still do it. Sometimes we're just too darn tired to care, and after a night of fun, all we want to do is plop our heads down on that pillow, and go to sleep only to worry out it the next morning. Luckily for the many woman out there, this problem may soon be over. Many company's have come out with their own makeup removing cleansing cloths, which claim to remove your makeup easily with a few swipes. The only next nail biting question is....which brand do I choose? I put two name brand items to the test, and weigh out the pros and cons of each. So plop down on that pillow and read on to see which passed the grade.

The first product tried was the Pond's Clean Sweep cleansing & make-up removing towelettes. A moist, slightly exfoliating texture, with a clean scent. This product is easy on the most sensitive of skins, and leaves you feeling refreshed and ready for a good nights sleep. This product feels as though you are washing your face with a wet washcloth, which is the whole point of it all. However, there is a downside. While the cleansing towelette takes off foundation fairly easily, mascara proves to be a little bit more of a task. One simple swipe of the eyes won't do it here, as you'll have to go straight to the lashes rather than just your eye to get the excess makeup off..and every woman knows that the last thing they want to do is pull out a few lashes just for the sake of a clean face. Some might think it's an unfair trade, while others probably won't mind just so long as they get the makeup off. While the Pond's Clean Sweep cleansing & make-up removing towelettes do the job fairly well, you might have to work a little harder than you want to to ensure your face is completely clean. I gave this product a 4 out of 5.

The second product tried was the Neutrogena Make-up Remover cleansing towelettes. The texture of this cloth is softer than the Pond's clean sweep, and has a more velvety feeling to it. For an experiment, I applied the Neutrogena cleansing towelette to my face after I used the Pond's, and found that it removed extra layers of foundation that the Pond's left behind. It takes little more than a sweep to remove mascara with this product, proving that it is stronger and involves less time. You won't have to do much scrubbing here. But this product appears to be a little tough on the skin. The very first time I wiped my face with this product from Neutrogena, I experienced a burning sensation, as well the next day when I applied fresh makeup to my face. I felt less of a burning sensation the day after, but it still lingered even then. While this was just my skin, I wouldn't recommend the Neutrogena Make-up Remover cleansing towelettes to people with sensitive, or overly sensitive skin. I gave this product a 3.5 out of 5.

In the end, it all comes down to personal choice. If one were to prefer a thorough job of washing their face without the consequences of burning skin, then I suggest the Pond's Clean Sweep. But again, those who wear waterproof mascara in particular might find it a little bit of a daunting task. However, this was the product I chose, as I found that a few extra swipes was far superior to irritated skin. But if you prefer to get the washing over with so that you can get on with your night's sleep, and you don't have particularly sensitive skin, then the Neutrogena Make-up towelettes are a better choice. For people with tougher skin, this product might be perfect.

Whichever it comes down to, every woman should make these cleansing towelettes a part of her nightly (and daily) routine. Their convenient enough to put in your bag when you are traveling, or even in your purse for when you need a pick-me-up. In whichever case, you no longer have to worry about messed up makeup, or waking up to a makeup covered pillow and oily pores. Just wipe clean and you're done! It's as easy as 1, 2, 3!
