Makeup Review: Coastal Scents' Brow Tones Palette

For all you makeup guru's out there, you know the difficulty of choosing a makeup online. It's never certain if the product will be worth your hard earned money or not. If you're looking to purchase makeup

I have been a makeup guru all my life and have been testing and reviewing products for the last five years. Each review is broken down into easily understood categories. Today we're taking a look at Coastal Scents' Brow Tones Palette.

Packaging: (5 stars out of 5)

I really like this brow palettes casing. The case has four different brow tone palettes inside, an applicator section with applicator, and person mirror - all of which make it easy to apply on the go.

This is a very sleek case and can fit in a makeup bag, purse, or clutch. The applicator that comes in this palette has a soft tipped side and a fine precision brow brush on the other. It works but I would recommend maybe getting a different brow brush (one that you can get a better grip on).

Colors: (4. 5 stars out of 5)

There are four colors in this palette, each are very natural. Colors vary from a light taupe, reddish brown, dark brown, and black. The reason I gave this section 4.5 stars is because I would like to see at least a light brown, medium brown, and then the black - rather than the big jump to dark brown and black.

These are natural matte colors so you don't have to worry about shimmer in any of them.

Texture: (5 stars out of 5)

I like the pigment in these colors because it makes a better application. Once you get the technique down on how to apply the brow color without causing it to look harsh and fake, you will be good to go. I would recommend that you start with light, soft, short strokes to make a "feathered-out" look. It will make your brows appear more natural.

Many people ask what the difference is for using brow powder, brow gel, and brow pencil. My answer - brow powder will help enhance them and make them appear thicker. If you have thin brows and need a little extra "umph", I would recommend using a brow powder. If you have heavier brows and need a little added, I would go for a pencil.

You need to use a very light hand with this powder. This is a pressed powder and a little goes a long way. The feeling will be a little on the rougher side (not extremely), but it will feel a little rougher than an eyeshadow would. This is perfectly normal for a brow powder. Is it the best brow powder out there? No. But it does do the trick and it is a decent product.

Application life: (4 stars out of 5)

When you are using a brow substitute, you're looking for something that is going to last you throughout the day. I wouldn't say this brow powder has the best application life, but it does run approx. 5 hours strong before it begins to wear off. There isn't much you can do to prolong the application life other than to do small touch ups throughout the day.

All-in-all, this product received 4.6 stars out of 5. It is a very nice product to have on hand especially if you do other peoples makeup as well because of the color variety. It's very easy to use and to apply and I would recommend it to any.
