Makeup Review: Coastal Scents' Diva Defense Primer

For all you makeup guru's out there, you know the difficulty of choosing a makeup online. It's never certain if the product will be worth your hard earned money or not. If you're looking to purchase makeup online, keep an eye out for the product review on my page.

I have been a makeup guru all my life and have been testing and reviewing products for the last five years. Each review is broken down into easily understood categories. Today we're taking a look at Coastal Scents' Diva Defense Primer.

The Look (5 stars out of 5)

In this section we are going to take a look at the actual products appearance and we are also going to look into the size and what all is included.

Diva Defense comes in a clear plastic container with a solid black screw on/off lid. Inside of the container is a sifter to help control how much product you get at once. Even with the sifter, though, you will still get a lot of product at once so you may want to tap a little primer in the lid.

There is plenty of product in this little container. You can purchase either the sample (1/2 teaspoon) or the full sized primer (8 grams in the sifter jar). This primer does not come with an applicator of any kind. I would suggest using a powder brush as an applicator.

Color: (5 stars out o f5)
There is only one color available - white. Once you apply the primer to your skin it will become a translucent powder (meaning you will not see it). This is a matte tone color so you don't have to worry about shimmer. This product is designed to go underneath your foundation and concealer.

Texture: (4.5 stars out of 5)

This is a rather unique primer. Most primers are a cream or liquid but this primer is a loose powder (much like mineral foundations). I have never had a problem with "caking" or creasing. You simply apply like you would with any other loose powder.

Since this is a primer, you do not need to apply a facial primer beforehand. Though you do not have to put a foundation over this primer, it is recommended because it will set the product.

Application life: (4 stars out of 5)

I have personally had a good experience using this product, but not all people feel that way. Some people have had complaints that it doesn't work at all for them and others, like myself, say it works fantastic. I'm guessing it all had to do with the individual.

This primer is to help reduce the appearance of fine lines and pores and indeed it does. Some people have told me they use this primer without any type of coverage overtop and they love it. For some, it helps reduce the appearance of aging spots and tired eyes.

Diva Defense does help my foundation stay put longer. I get approx. 8 hours of full wear compared to the 5 I was getting. When using a foundation, you want one that is going to last and go nicely with your skin type and tone. If you have a foundation that works for you but doesn't last as long as you would like, I would really recommend you try this primer.

All-in-all, I really do love this primer. It does what it's supposed to do and I don't really have any complaints. This primer received an overall rating of 4.6 out of 5 stars.
