Makeup Review: Coastal Scents New Smokey Eyeshadow Palette

I have been a makeup guru all my life and have been testing and reviewing products for the last five years. Each review is broken down into easily understood categories. Today we're taking a look at Coastal Scents newest addition: 36 Smokey Eyeshadow Palette.

Product Casing: (5 stars out of 5)

One thing I have always loved about Coastal Scents are their palettes. They uniquely design each palette to perfection. In this 36 Smokey Eye collection there are 36 different color shade palettes (hence the name).

Each nickel size palette is located in a matte black case with locking clasps. The dimensions are 5 3/4" X 5 3/4" X 3/8". There isn't a mirror included in this case, but it doesn't make it any less lovable.

There is plenty of shadow in each palette and a little goes a long way. I have palettes from Coastal Scents that I got over a year ago with much smaller shadow palettes and I still have shadows left. Coastal Scents always does a good job of giving you your money's worth.

Coloring: (4 stars out of 5)

I will start off by saying there are a lot of deeper toned colors in this palette since it is for smokey looks. There are also lighter tones in here as well. Each color is very pigmented and it does not take much to make your look.

There is a mixture of matte colors and shimmers available in this smokey palette. Though I love the colors, I am giving this section 4 stars because there aren't many neutral colors in this palette. I know many people would like to see more natural tones, including me.

Colors range from matte black, medium to light pinks, purples, reds, silvers, greens, and even a lemon yellow. There is a total of 36 colors in this palette.

Texture: (4.5 stars out of 5)

I do not have many complaints when it comes to the texture of a Coastal Scents shadow. Each shadow is always smooth and glides on seemingly. I haven't had problems blending these eyeshadows. If you are beginner at eyeshadow and are trying to achieve a more "hi-def" look, I would recommend these to you.

You can use these shadows wet. It will make application more difficult, but a little practice will take you far.

Application Life: (3.5 stars out of 5)

The actual wear life is approx. 7 hours, but throughout the day you will notice your look beginning to fade and blend together. I would recommend adding an eye primer under this shadow before application to give you better protection.

I haven't had a problem with this shadow caking or creasing. My tips to you would be to watch how much you apply and blend, blend, blend. Blending is always the key to perfect shadow application. Start with a little product at a time and work your way up.

All-in-all, I adore this palette. I enjoy having it as part of my collection and I can't wait for Prom clients to start rolling in again so I can try out some new looks. This product received an overall rating of 4.3 stars out of 5.
