I am here to answer your questions about makeup products before you purchase. I have personally purchased and tested each product I review to optimize your overall opinion.
Right now we are going to take a look at e.l.f.'s Eye Widener. During this review we are going to talk about the products form, color, texture, and application life.
Color:
E.l.f. offers one color, Pearl White, for their Eye Widener. The purpose of this product is to make eyes look larger, rounder. Good concept, but does it work?
Once applied to skin, the color is not white; it's a shimmery silver color. I would of really liked it to be a non-shimmering white because it will give the appearance of natural roundness and not makeup-ed.
The color is okay if you are looking for a silver color, but not if you want white. Keep looking.
Texture:
Being an eye based makeup product, this eye liner is very tough. This eye liner pencil is make specifically for the waterline to lighten it and make your eyes appear larger. It may possibly work, even if it has a silver tone instead of white, but it's extremely hard and you can't apply it to skin without applying a lot of pressure. A lot more pressure than you would ever apply on your waterline!
With that said, I can assure you, this does not make a good eye liner. Even if you do not mind applying pressure to your waterline, it will cause future damage such as premature aging. Not worth it.
I still try to use each makeup product I purchase. Even if I cannot use it for the original purpose, there's a chance it can be used for something else.
After deciding it was a lost-cause with my waterline, I moved onto my brow bone. It does make a nice brow bone highlighter. The pencil shape makes it easy to keep control of where you draw in the highlight. Blend out the makeup with a blending brush or ring finger, and you're good to go!
Product form:
There isn't much to say here, other than it's in pencil form, but there was one more thing I wanted to point out as a plus. The capping to this eye liner is the sharpener. I really enjoyed the creativeness in this area because I will always have a sharpener on me.
Application life:
There are two different ways to judge this eye liner: as an eye liner and as a highlighter.
If you use this product for its original purpose, eye liner, it wheres off rather fast. I got approx. one hour of full application before I needed to retouch. It's not always easy to retouch if you are out and about - because there isn't always a mirror around and, if you're in the car, it's going to be bumping all around. Want to put a point close to your eye in a moving car? Not me.
As a highlighter - I got approx. three hours of full wear. I was pleased with this product once used as a highlighter.
All-in-all, if you are looking for a eye widener, this is not the product to go for. If you would like to try it out as a brow bone highlighter, go for it!
