E.l.f. recently came out with a mineral eyelid primer. Today we are going to take a peek at that very primer. During this review we are going to look at the packaging, coloring, texture, and application life.
Packaging:
This eyelid primer comes in a cheap plastic container. The design is much like a mascara container. It has a black screw-on screw-off caping complete with a felt tip wand. Be careful when gathering product onto the applicator, because it picks up a lot more than you need.
Coloring:
There is currently only one color available for this product; sheer. Sheer is suppose to apply to the skin like a translucent color, but it doesn't. It actually makes that area highlighted. Now if you have fair skin, you will not have the same affect, but if you are dark skinned, be careful.
The actual coloring of this primer is a light nude color.
Texture:
This is where my mixed feelings come in. They say a first impression is a lasting impression. When I first saw this product is wasn't smooth looking. It was actually chunky in appearance. It looked a lot like spoiled milk.
After minutes of working with the primer, it became a smooth texture. Every now and then, it will return to the chunky appearance and I have to start all over.
Here is how you get rid of the chunk. Do not pump the wand attempting to stir the product! This will only make the situation worse. Pumping the wand will dry out the product. Instead, roll the container between your palms for a couple minutes. If the product is not improving, fill a cup of hot water and place the container in the water for approx. five minutes.
This primer applies smoothly to the skin. After applied to skin, the product will feel like an eye cream.
Application life:
There really isn't an application life to this product. I judged application life by how long my eyeshadow stayed on.
With eyeshadow - I got approx. five hours of full wear before it started to fade and where away. Not too bad. Please also note that this is a mineral eyeshadow primer, and designed specifically for mineral based shadows.
All-in-all, this is an okay eyelid primer. Is it the best? No. But it does get the job done. I would recommened adding this to your makeup collection simply because it is an easy application for those days you need to run and it doesn't cost a ton of money.
You can get this primer for $3 at: http://www.eyeslipsface.com/eyes/concealers_&_primers/eyeshadow_primer
