Makeup Review: E.L.F.'s New Studio Line Lengthening and Volumizing Mascara

I have been a makeup guru all my life and have been testing and reviewing products for the last five years. Each review is broken down into easily understood categories. Today we're taking a look at E.L.F.'s Studio Line Lengthening and Volumizing Mascara.

Packaging and Brush: (3.5 stars out of 5)

E.L.F.'s newer member of the mascara family comes in a sleek, modern, black case. Most of the casing is the brush handle, not the product bottom. For the size, there is not much product. The brush itself is an average haired out texture. To get more volume, I would recommend starting at the base of your lash line and working your way to the tip in a side-to-side motion.

Product Texture: (4 stars out of 5)

This mascara is very easy to apply. It seems to glide on lashes with ease. It is a little on the moist side so ensure you have good control of your brush . The biggest complaint I would have with the application process - if you aren't careful and don't allow the product a couple seconds to dry, you can end up blinking mascara on to your lids. Compared to other E.L.F. mascaras, this particular product would rank in the higher listings.

Color: (4.5 out of 5)

E.L.F. currently has two colors available for this mascara - brown and black. Both colors are very rich, but also natural. If you have darker features or would prefer a more dramatic eye, I would recommend the black to you. On the other hand, if you have lighter features and would like a more natural look - I would head towards the brown. As of now, it does not appear that E.L.F. will be adding more colors to this collection.

Application Life: (2 out of 5)

The end results came out pretty negative. This product clumps your lashes together with time and begins to flake. It tends to smudge and smear and is not waterproof in the least. It is very difficult to wash off and I would recommend using an oil based makeup remover to remove this mascara. I would give this mascara a total of two hours before it starts to clump and flake. I was not impressed.

E.L.F.'s Studio Line Lengthening and Volumizing Mascara received an overall score of 3.5 stars out of 5. It's okay to have if you are on a low budget and need a quick fix, but I would not recommend this product.
