Makeup Review: E.L.F.'s Studio Line Bronzer

TommiH
E.l.f. cosmetics offer a wide variety of products over the web and some now available in stores. The goals of e.l.f. is to provide quality products without killing your wallet. Many are skeptical when ordering over the net because you never know what the product will be like. Will it turn out to be a waste of money?

I have ordered several products from e.l.f. over the last years; some turned out to be good and some bad. In an effect to help you make a decision on your purchase, I have decided to share my product opinions with you. E.l.f. recently came out with a new studio line bronzer. The previous bronzer available from e.l.f. was cheap in my opinion, but I decided to give the studio line a go.

Packaing:

Compared to old e.l.f. products I purchased, I was very impressed with the product casing. It was very sturdy, strong plastic. The bronzer comes with a very large personal mirror on the flip-side of the casing lid. The casing is very compact and can easily be slid into a back pocket, makeup case, or purse. This bronzer does not come with an applicator.

Color:

E.l.f. offers three different bronzers: cool, warm, and golden. Each bronzer palette is composed of four colors, a light, medium, warm, and dark. When using the bronzer, your brush mixes each color with one another.

I found each color individually and apart are brilliant. But with every up there seems to be a down. This bronzer is FULL of shimmer. When applied to skin, you feel like Edward Cullen when he steps into the sun; you sparkle.

If you are not a sparkle/glitter fan, this is not a bronzer for you. Personally, I did not enjoy this as a bronzer so I tried each color separate from each other as an eyeshadow. I loved it! If you like shimmer eyeshadows, you can always purchase this product and use it as an eyeshadow instead of bronzer.

Application life:

I will address this product in two different application forms: one of the face/body area and one as an eyeshadow.

Face/body application - gave approx. two hours of full color before only shimmer was left standing. The shimmer causes your skin to look very oily and dirty.

Eyeshadow - gave approx. five hours of full wear. I used an eyelid primer before applying the shadow. Same thing happens when applied to the facial and body areas, once the color is gone and the shimmer is left - the skin looks greasy.

Over all, this is a good product to have on hand but not as a bronzer. If you do use this product as a bronzer, use with a light touch. Remember that it can be used as an eyeshadow quad if you prefer not to have a sparkling complexion.
