I am here to answer your questions about makeup products before you purchase. I have personally purchased and tested each product I review to optimize your overall opinion.
E.l.f. recently developed studio line. Studio line products are available for $3 each. Right now we are going to take a look at e.l.f.'s Studio line Single Eyeshadow palette. During this review we are going to take a look at coloring, texture, and application life.
Coloring:
I always like to start with coloring because it's usually what people go for when picking out eye-shadows.
E.l.f. currently provides only ten colors in their Studio Line Single Eyeshadow palettes. I really wish there were more for purchase, but there's not. E.l.f. should be getting around to adding new colors soon so I'm not going to worry about it too much.
There really is no set color genre that e.l.f. went for when producing this shadow. With a large variety of colors available - you can create anywhere from a classic look to a punk look.
Colors currently available are anywhere from Sand Dollar (light sandy color) to Charcoal (a dark bluish/gray coloring). Each color is packed full of pigment. A little product goes a long way.
As of now - there are no matte colors available in this line. All colors are very, very shimmery. If you don't like shimmer in your shadow, you may want to think of getting a different product.
Texture:
E.l.f.'s Single Eyeshadow is extremely smooth. The first thing I do when I get a new shadow is run my ring finger over the product. If it glides and feels smooth, the product is worthy of being applied to my lids. If the product is rough feeling, it's not going to make it far.
Needless to say, I love the feel of this eyeshadow. But there is a lot more to an eyeshadow than simply the feel. Let's keep moving.
Creasing is a big problem with many eye-shadows today. You think you have a good product, complete your look, and end up disappointed because all your hard work looks like crap an hour later. I will warn you, this eyeshadow does crease and smudge. It's very easy to blend, but very easy to mess up. I highly recommend applying a base of some sort before completing a look with this shadow.
For best results, apply an eyelid primer then shadow.
Application life:
Sadly, like most other shadows, this product wears off quickly. I got approx. two hours of full wear before everything went south. With a primer applied before the shadow, I got approx. three hours.
Creasing begins within half hour to an hour of application.
All-in-all, if you are an eyeshadow virgin looking to start wearing shadow, this would be a good product to start off with. It doesn't cost a lot and it blends easily. It's an easy shadow to work with. If you are really into shadow looks, this product may not be for you. It can cause a look to wear off and crease throughout the day. It can get rather frustrating.
