Makeup Review: E.L.F.'s Studio Line Translucent Matifying Powder

TommiH
Hey everyone! Today we are going to talk about a new product I got. This product comes from E.L.F.'s studio line. We will take a look at E.L.F.'s Translucent Matifying Powder. During this review we will talk about the packaging, coverage, color, texture, and application life.

Let's get started!

Packaging:

We will go ahead and start off with the packaging because it is nice to know what you are getting. This product comes in a basic black-plastic casing. It does have a little latch on the front so it does not pop open when you have it in a bag or pocket. It does not come with a personal mirror for application but it does come with a sponge applicator. The applicator works very well with the product, but you do not want to continue using it again and again. Sponges tend to hold onto bacteria and can cause you to break out. I would suggest getting a concealer brush and using it as an applicator

Color:

This is a translucent powder, but for some reason people seem to think it should come in a color for fair skin, light skin, medium skin, and dark skin. No! This is a translucent powder and it works well with all skin types. As long as you do not go overboard with the application, all the coloring will be fine.

Coverage:
This product is not really meant to cover blemishes or any other spots that you do not want to appear. Use this product to set in foundation or help even out skin tone. If you skin that has a little discoloring, you can use this product and it will work just fine. If you have skin that has acne, a lot of discoloring, or other areas that you would like to be covered - this is not going to work as well as you would hope.

Apply a liquid foundation and a very light coat of this product. Do not apply a ton of this product, because you will have a problem with caking.

Texture:
This is more of a crème-to-powder makeup. It has a very nice silky-smooth texture. Be careful though. This product tends to scout out fine wrinkles and dry patches. It will crease in whatever little lines it can find and bunch up on dry skin patches. It will also cake up on itself if you apply too much.

Application Life:

The application life is rather fair. I would really hope to see even six hours of nice product life, but I got maybe four hours of life before I had to touch up and fix whatever creased and bunched up. Touch ups can be tricky since this product tends to cake up on the skin. It is best to remove the product completely before a new application.

All-in-all, it will work if you know how to use it and tweak it. I would not recommend this product if you are new at makeup because it can be a bit frustrating. You can find this product at eyeslipsface.com under the studio link for $3.
