Makeup Review: E.L.F.'s Under Eye Concealer and Highlighter

TommiH
Hey everyone! I'm back with another makeup product review. Today we are going to discuss E.L.F.'s Under Eye Concealer and Highlighter. During this review we are going to talk about the packaging, texture, coloring, coverage, and application life.

Let's see how it holds up!

Packaging:

When I first saw the picture of Under Eye Concealer and Highlighter, I thought of Physicians Formula. Physicians Formula has a very similar concealer and the packaging is identical besides the name. The product is in a long, tube-like container. One end of the container has the concealer (of your color) and the other end has a highlighter. To apply the concealer, unscrew the end that you would like to use, whether it is the concealer or highlighter, and apply with the built-in brush.

I did not exactly like the built in brush, but it was okay. I would recommend applying the concealer with the brush then patting it down with your ring finger. You can do the same with the highlighter

Coloring:

I was personally happy with the actual color tones, but I was not all that pleased with the color selection. There are only three colors available in this concealer/highlighter: glow/fair, glow/light, and glow/medium. There was no concealer for darker skin! E.L.F. seems to have a problem with their color selections and not offering items for darker skinned individuals.

All three of the highlighters are the same color, "Glow". This is a very light color and I would suggest using a very small amount or it will make you look washed out, especially if you have fair skin. I would not suggest using the highlighter on darker skin, because it would look very fake.

Texture:

The texture of this concealer is more like a liquid foundation. It isn't very runny, but not a cream either. I wasn't very happy with the texture because it tends to cling to dry skin and crease. I did not spend much time with this concealer because I found it to be a flop once it started to crease in every tiny crevice it could find, but I would recommend trying out an eye primer before applying the concealer. It may help you out some with the creasing. However, an eye primer would not help you out with this product emphasizing dry skin patches.

Coverage:
I did like the coverage from this concealer; it was approx. medium coverage. It took care of under eye dark areas. Also, if you are looking to cover smaller blemishes, such as: the occasional zit, small mole, broken capillaries around the nostrils, this concealer will work out in the coverage area.

Application Life:

Now here comes the party crasher. I did not like the application life whatsoever. I got approx. 3 hours of medium coverage before it started to crease and wear off. I was trying my hardest to wear this concealer throughout the day, but it got to the point I just took it off because it wasn't doing much and I got tired of applying it over and over. All-in-all, I would not recommend this concealer to you, especially if you are a beginner at makeup because it may discourage you from further makeup use. The price is $3 even at eyeslipsface.com.
