Makeup Review: Estee Lauder's Gilded Rose: Marbleized Shimmer Powder

TommiH
Hey there everyone! I have a new product that I wanted to talk about with you. Today we are going to take a look at Estee Lauder's Gilded Rose: Marbleized Shimmer Powder. During this review we are going to take a look at the packaging, texture, color, and application life.

Let's get started and see how this product holds up...

Packaging:
Gilded Rose: Marbleized Shimmer Powder comes in a very feminine colored Estee Lauder casing. The case is light pink on the outside with a peach colored lid, and, as usual, it has the Estee Lauder symbol. Inside the casing is the actual product along with an applicator. There is a good amount of product and a little goes a long way.

As for the applicator, I was not all that pleased with the tool. This is a pressed powder makeup, and the applicator that comes with the product is tightly knit bristles that are a bit on the tough side. Put the product and applicator together, and you get a big mess. The applicator tool digs into the product and causes an excessive amount of powder to loosen from the product and fall everywhere.

Now I won't give the product a large markdown because of the applicator; it's an easy fix. I would suggest using a large, flowing, powder brush or kabuki brush with this product. Using one of these applicators will help prevent fallen powder and loss of needed product.

Color:
There is only one color available: Rose. This is a blush, not for all over use, so you don't need a very wide selection of colors to choose from. This color is more of a universal color and works for skins tones ranging from fair to dark. Yes, it would be nice to have a little more color variety to choose from, but this is still a good color to work with and not a big deal.

Texture:

As I stated above, this is a pressed powder product. I really enjoyed using Gilded Rose: Marbleized Shimmer Powder, because it's very silky-smooth and glides onto the skin. I didn't have a problem with that "powder residue" look that a lot of pressed powders give you after you finish applying.

This powder blush did not seek out dry skin, fine lines, or wrinkles. It did not cake up during application or after and it didn't matter how many layers I applied. But also make sure you are not going overboard with application. Each layer can be a gentle sweep; you don't need much.

Application Life:

I was very pleased with the application life for Gilded Rose: Marbleized Shimmer Powder. I got approx. five full hours of radiant color out of this blush before I had to touch up and rejuvenate the coloring. This was not a big complaint of mine because it's not hard to touch up this product; a quick sweep with a powder brush and you are good to go.

I would not recommend wearing this product if you plan to do strenuous work throughout the day. I would recommend using this product if you are going on a date, to an office job or other jobs alike, or just going to run errands.

All-in-all, this is a nice blush and should be added to any makeup bag collection. You can purchase this product at esteelauder.com for $ 36.
