I have been a makeup guru all my life and have been testing and reviewing products for the last five years. Each review is broken down into easily understood categories. Today we're taking a look at MAC's Pro Longwear Lipcreme.
The look (5 stars out of 5)
Normally, for me, a lipstick is a lipstick. There isn't much to the actual appearance section (it is the actual product I'm looking for). That said, I do think Pro Longwear has a really sleek, modern look.
This lipstick comes in a black casing with the classic twist bottom. Once you pull off the lid, there's a chrome/silver. The actual shape of the lipstick is a little different than the classic cut. The top is almost completely flat (there is a slight angle), but it still applies nicely.
Color: (4 stars out of 5)
I really enjoyed the colors for Longwear but I wish there was little more selection available. There are currently 12 colors available. The colors range from deep red, browns, purples, and a pink tone. These are all matte tone colors and there is no shimmer.
These colors are very rich and vibrant which makes them among some of the most popular MAC lipsticks. If you want to add a little "pizzazz" to your look, I would suggest applying a gloss over this lipstick. It would add that little extra kick.
Texture: (5 stars out of 5)
Texture is the key to the perfect lipstick and I must say that Longwear is near perfection. I didn't have a problem with it smudging and creasing. This lipstick literally glides on. This is a rich lipstick and it applies with a thick feeling (not so much as heavy, just well covered). There is not much more to say in this section other than I was very pleased with the feel of Longwear.
Application life: (4.5 stars out of 5)
I was very happy with the application life. I got approx. 6 hours of full wear. Now if you will be touching things to your lips a lot, I wouldn't expect to get that much life out of one application. You will more than likely need to touch up throughout the day.
This lipstick does withstand more than the average lipstick does, though. It will rub off onto glasses when you are drinking and eventually fade, but I do not see this as a "huge" problem because it is not hard to reapply.
All-in-all, I was very happy with this lipstick and I do recommend it. Longwear lipstick got an overall rating of 4.6 stars out of 5.
