Makeup Review: Neutrogenas' Skin Clearing Oil-Free Makeup

Hey everyone! Today we are going to do a makeup review on Neutrogenas' Skin Clearing Oil-Free makeup. For those of you who are wondering, this is a foundation for acne-prone skin. During this review we will take a look at the color, texture, application life, and coverage. Let's see how it holds up!

Color:

I am starting off with the color because it impressed me very much. A lot of foundations have color that is very unnatural, so color is generally what I go after first. Skin Clearing makeup offers great color that is both natural looking and has that "easy on the eyes" appearance. There's a large selection of color available all the way from fair to dark.

Texture:

What I really love about this foundation is the fact it is extremely light weight! You don't even feel like you are wearing any makeup. It has a very smooth-glide on application and does not cling to dry skin. This makeup works for both dry and oily skin because it is oil-free. I have noticed that this makeup does get a little runny on oily-skin because it is very light weight. A lot of people do not understand why this happens because it says "Oil-free", but what you need to understand is though the makeup is oil-free - it is not oil controlling. So if you already have oily skin, it is not going to cut down on the oil; it won't add anymore oil to your skin. Please make sure you understand this before you buy.

Coverage:
Okay, another biggie we need to discuss; coverage. This foundation looks very heavy and thick while it is inside the bottle, but it is far from it. This makeup does NOT cover blemishes at all. The coverage for this foundation is shear and dewy. It gives you a healthy glow and that's about all. It does fine with acne-prone skin because the formula is made to accommodate acne and keep you from getting the "makeup breakouts". If you are looking for a makeup that does fine with acne but gives you coverage, I would suggest that you use Skin Clearing under a foundation powder. Apply little dabs of Skin Clearing to your face and rub in like lotion then apply your foundation in a powder form (pressed or loose powder will both work).

Application life:
I would recommend this foundation for a easy going day that you just want a healthy glow (a day at work like an office job is a perfect example). This foundation does not hold up to perspiration or water, so I do not recommend you go to the pool, beach, or work out while wearing this foundation. You don't get streaky marks when it comes off because it is so light and shear, but you will have noticeable lines where the skin does not "glow" as the rest of your skin does. I got a total of eight hours of a healthy glow out of this foundation, while using a primer. Wearing the foundation without a primer, I got approx. five hours of a healthy looking face.

Overall, this is a good foundation for people who have sensitive skin that does not need coverage. It won't cause you to breakout while providing you with a healthy glow. Like I said before, do not get this foundation if you are going for coverage because you will only come out disappointed.
