Soon I found myself on Sephora's site scanning through all their products and was amazed by the selection. Approx. 90% of Sephora products had a five star rating, so, of course, I had to buy, buy, and buy some more.
One of the first products I put in my shopping basket was the i.d. bareMinerals Glimmer. Being a huge fan of mineral based makeup, I couldn't pass it up. Where my hopes shattered when I received the product?
We will dig deep into i.d.'s bareMineral during this review - talking about the product in general (what it is), the container/size, the color and pigment, the texture, and how long the makeup last when put to the test. All followed up by a short summary and price. Make sure to look for the product link at the end of this review.
What is i.d. bareMineral Glimmer?
BareMineral Glimmer is a mineral based eye shadow. It works hand-in-hand with natural ingredients to provide a healthier makeup. If you have sensitive skin but still want to feel and look great, this eye shadow is for you!
Container and sizing:
Each eye shadow container is made from a clear plastic bottom and has a black screw on/off capping labeled with "i.d. bareMinerals" and Sephora's natural seal. The containers are a maximum size of 0.02 oz. This is definitely not the largest product I have seen, but a little product goes a long way.
When you screw off the capping, inside is a sifter. This sifter works great by limiting how much product comes out at a time. There is not an included personal mirror or applicator.
Color and pigmentation:
Sephora offers eighteen individual bareMineral Glimmer colors at the present time. The colors range from neutral tones to bold colors (i.e. blues and purples). These eye shadows are soft and subtle when applied, adding great highlights and accents to matte shadows.
BareMineral Glimmer is the same as bareMineral Eye shadow, but with shimmer added. If you are not a fan of shimmer shadow, you may want to look into the matte shadows. If you do decide to purchase Shimmer, I would also get a matte color to go with it so you are lightly accenting the look instead of exploding it in glitter.
Overall - very nice colors. Great for night or day looks and adding highlights and glam.
Texture:
Personally, I think the texture is most desired when it comes to this eye shadow. I have gone through many mineral shadows during my makeup guru years, but this one in particular shadow stands out.
With finely ground, loose powder - this shadow practically morphs with your skin. Never have I had an issue with left over powder residue; the application is always flawless and natural looking. Creasing has not been a problem, as well, nor flaking. Smudging and smearing does not seem possible and has never happened.
If you are a makeup guru like myself and love to try new looks with eye shadow, I would highly recommend this product to you. It can be pricey, but it is very easy to blend out - making it all worth while.
Glimmer is designed to work with you, not against you, giving you flexibility to work within. I.d. bareMinerals Glimmer can be worn dry or wet. Wearing this shadow wet does not cause creasing or caking.
How long does it last?
After trying this shadow with two different application processes, I came to the conclusion it is great with either-or. The first application I did was on bare, clean, moisturized eyelids; no base. With that said, I had approx. six hours of full life, needing no touch ups. On the second application, I applied an eyelid primer before shadow. With the primer, I had approx. eight hours of wear.
TIP: For best application results, apply Glimmer with an eye shadow brush made specifically for the use of mineral products.
Summary:
Glimmer is an expensive makeup product but great investment! It creates desirable looks and wears all day long.
Price: $13/per 0.02 oz
