Tips to Enhance Not Damage Your Skin

Malina Debrie
Okay, you are a tween or you've just turned thirteen. Life is different. You now want to look like a girl, a young lady and not a baby. No longer are you going to just play with your mothers makeup. Now you want your own and you are going to wear makeup to school, church and even those dances.

But one important fact you must remember; makeup is something that can destroy the skin if worn too long, if it is not applied properly, if it is not removed daily and if too much is worn. The damage to your skin and complexion because of makeup can be even more intense if and when you are a teen.

If you are going to wear makeup, follow the tips provided below with a vengeance. You do not want to wake up one morning looking ten years older than you are because you forgot to remove your makeup the night before.

Begin a Skin Care Regime Early

At the age of eleven, young females should begin a skin care regime. Cleanse and moisturizer your skin at least twice daily. A light moisturizer designed just for teens would be ideal. Do not use moisturizers recommended for older, mature females. Your skin is still young, delicate and sensitive. Take your mother shopping to find the perfect moisturizer for your skin care needs. Believe it or not, your mother has been there and done that. She has a certain expertise that later you will value.

Don't Wear Makeup

I'm sorry, but this is the number one tip I have for all teenagers. At your ages (12 years - 19 years) unless you have had damage done to your body from an accident or some other tragic occurrence, your skin is still young and quite lovely. There is no need for you to wear makeup. A bit of lip gloss to protect your lips and maybe even a little eyeshadow that matches your outfit or eyes is all you should wear on your face. Too often girls try to grow up and be women before their time. When you are grown, that's it. You're never going to be a girl again. Stay young and beautiful as long as possible; Don't wear makeup.

If You Must Wear Makeup, Never Wear Foundation

If you feel makeup is a must because 'All the girls are wearing it" never wear foundation. Foundation is applied to hide blemishes and other facial imperfections. If you have no blemishes, scars or any other problems, do not wear foundation. Foundation in any form is too heavy and clogs the pores. Most females should steer away from foundation unless it is absolutely necessary.

If You Have Acne, See a Dermatologist

There are many good products on the market advertised to heal acne. Some work and some do not. It's all about your body "Chemistry." Proactive may be great for one person while another user might see no improvement. A dermatologist is well worth the cost if you see more than one bump on a continuous basis. Acne is a condition not to be taken lightly. For teens, it an be so defeating to see your face consistently breaking out. Having uncontrolled acne can completely deflate your ego. Being a teen is all about life and happiness. When there are acne issues to worry about, you feel a loss of self confidence. A dermatologist is worth every dime of the cost. So, get one and see him whenever a skin problem occurs.

Enjoy being young and beautiful for as long as possible. Age creeps up on you and before you know it, you will have lived most of your life. Make sure each day is lived to the fullest .

Have you noticed that some women look much younger than others when they all are the same ages? Sometimes, it is not due to cosmetic surgery. It is often due to the care taken when young. Caring for the skin when you are young can make you appear far younger in your later years than your peers. On person of 50 can look 60 or 70 while another can look 30 0r 40. It's all about the way you take care of your body during the early years of your life and all during your life. Begin today caring for your body, your entire body. Eat plenty of healthy foods, fruits, vegetables and drink a lot of water daily. don;t overdo it, because you can eat too much of anything and drink too much water, but drink water and eat fruits and vegetables. Watch for other articles I write on these subjects. Also look for a book I will have out later on taking care of the body when young.

Britney when you're young, the skin is still very sensitive. You can damage it's natural ability to absorb moisture when slathering on foundation. Foundation is thick and tends to cling to your skin. While it does make your face appear more even toned and smooth, it can clog already sensitive pores that need the air to breathe. If clogged, you can cause your pores to hold in germs and bacteria that will cause other problem including acne prone skin which is something young people tend to have problems with even if not using foundation. Also foundation is something that hangs to the skin for a long period of time. If not cleaned off properly and completely, when you become older say in your late twenties and thirties, your skin will begin to show the signs of aging much earlier than those who have not worn foundation. Overall the longer you can avoid wearing makeup, the better. Makeup is wonderful if you have flaws and really need to cover up a few minor skin issues.
