Makeup Tips for the Summer Heat

Beat the Summer Heat with Easy Makeup Tips!

Many women have the same problem with their makeup in the summer. Heat, sweat, and water can take their toll on your makeup and possibly deter you from doing some of the activities you love. Luckily, there are some very easy tips to keep the heat at bay on your face and keep your makeup looking fresh and soft all day without melting away or clogging your pores from sweat.

A big problem with many liquid foundations is that they melt or cake in certain areas of your face when you sweat. Oil can make this even worse by helping your makeup to slide right off your face and end up clogging your pores or even staining your clothes! The summer sun is an enemy of many common liquid foundations, but it has other enemies too! Many varieties of makeup are not waterproof, or if they say they are, they aren't completely impervious to the effects of water. During the summer, the most common activities involve water, and it's just silly to not consider that when putting on your makeup for a summer day.

Oil will make it worse!

Using any moisturizer or skincare product on your face that contains oils is a big mistake for the summer time. Always use an oil free moisturizer when you can, and make sure your foundation has no or very limited oil content. Using a moisturizer with SPF 15 or higher beneath your foundation is a great idea, but many of them include oil! Try to find products that have sun protection and are also oil free.

When you are choosing a foundation that doesn't contain oil, mousse and cream makeup is usually best. Using makeup that is light and fluffy is better for your pores if you'll be sweating or in direct sunlight. Be sure to take the changing tones of your skin into consideration; if you're often in the sun in the summer, your tone may have gotten naturally darker.

Powders can make or break your look.

Using the wrong powder, pressed powder, or mineral makeup last can make or break your sweat-proof look. You want something that matches your skin entirely, and doesn't do what many makeups tend to do when exposed to summer elements; melt! In order to keep your foundation to stay completely, you should always finish with the right powder, and when your skin is in the right condition!

Applying powder when you're already sweating is the worst mistake you can make when you do your makeup in the summer. It will immediately cake up and start making your skin and makeup look very blotchy and spotted. The best way to avoid this is to never put on your makeup right when you get out of the shower, or never reapply or touch up your powder if you're sweating or in direct sunlight.

During the summer, it's important to have fun and look your best doing it. Good luck!
