Making Angels Laugh

Donna Cavanagh
The modern age has taught many lessons
One is that true friendship is not a matter of place
Friends we rely on each day in our lives
Live in a neighborhood we now call cyberspace

I know many say a friend needs to be there in person
But my long distance friends never spare their feelings
They are never short on love, honesty and support
And their words provide joy, comfort and healing

I made him laugh out loud and snort soda through his nose
Those were the first words to me he shared
From then on, we talked about our writing, laughter -- so many things
He was serious about humor and I knew he cared

This morning I found out his days here were through
But his sardonic wit will make the angels roar
I will miss his commentary and the lessons he taught me
About pushing the envelope and finding new depths to explore

So, in honor of a funny, sometimes twisted man
I will make sure to smile, giggle and laugh out loud
A wide grin splashed with a good amount of sarcasm
Will no doubt make him content and proud

You know, you must know that God has a sense of humor. I love the positiveness of humor and you always say it so well, in poetry no less! Great work friend.

I have made so many cyber friends over the years just from casual acquaintences. I love them all!
