Scrapbook items can become costly but I've created my three kids each their own scrapbook for a few dollars each. I love the cute stickers that can be added to the pages but have you looked at the cost (outrageous). I've found an easy and cheaper way to have these stickers in my children's books. First I purchased blank sticker printer paper (you can get 10+ sheets per package). Next look online or in your clip art for pictures that pertain to the subject you are working on. For instance, if you are working on a Christmas picture, look for pictures of Santa, snowman, elves, and etc. then copy and paste them on the Word program (any program of this type will work well). After you have a full page of stickers print them out and cut out individually. You can also make sayings, poems & quotes.
The next way to save money while making your scrapbook is to use the pictures and sayings from holiday cards your child receives in the mail from relatives. You may be flooded with baby cards that meaningful people have mailed to you wishing you or your baby well. Cut out borders, pictures, saying and etc. use these in the scrapbook. By putting these cards to use in your scrapbook you will have less clutter to stash away and the scrapbook will have more meaning?
So when your child receives birthday cards, Easter cards, Valentine's Day cards, St. Patrick's Day cards, Halloween cards, Christmas cards, Thanksgiving Day cards and etc. remember to put them to use in the scrapbook. I find my kids getting excited more about the card since they know we cut out the pictures and add them to their scrapbook. They actually see their cards being put to use and I'm sure when the giver of the card glances through the scrapbook they see that their card was really truly appreciated.
I also added newspaper clippings to go with the pictures that I've added to the scrapbook. For example, when the kids dress up for Halloween we take their pictures. They have won prizes for their costumes and have had their names published in the local paper. I clip out the article and add it to the page. When they look back, in years to come, they will see their costumes and the prize they might have taking that year in the parade.
Good luck and have fun with your child's scrapbook!
