The PRC has a special place in my heart as it was nearly 11 yrs ago I had my first encounter with them. As I was pregnant and a single mom of 2 children already. Desperate, alone and financially incapable of supporting another baby. Someone I knew referred me to the center. I had little expectations of the PRC. My only concern at the time were my options and the babies needs.
I never expected that I would meet with someone who would genuinely care about my current circumstances. Each appointment I met with a peer counselor who listened to my needs and helped to inform me of my options. Being able to speak to someone who did not judge me was a blessing. Having someone come along side me and encourage me was something new to me. It felt good knowing I had people who were willing to give their time to help me to be able to grow and come to a realization of what I wanted to do and to also help me to learn how to do some of the things in life I was never taught.
Although at the time I can honestly say I didn't fully appreciate all they had done for me. With their help I was able to get through what I was going through and about 7 yrs later, things had come full circle. I had begun to attend a local church where I saw a poster of the their annual Walk For Life. I knew that this was something I wanted to be apart of. Then came the baby bottle boomerang. Again I wanted to serve the ministry that cared for me.
So when a spot opened up for someone to fill a need for a church rep, I knew where God wanted me and I took the opportunity to serve.
So here I am my son almost 11 and as I write to you about the significance of this community service I can not express to you enough how dear and near to my heart it is, without the PRC I would have been to caught up in my own grief, guilt, shame, and mistakes To notice that God had a plan for my life.
A Future for my son, who happens to be one of the biggest joys of my life. To think what could have been, is to love what is all the more. Sometimes we just need someone to come along side of us and encourage us, that we can finish the race even though we fall.
I hope to see you at the Banquet it will be at the Sky Top Lodge this year if you would like to RSVP you can call the center at 570-424-0373
The center has grown since I was a client there, which would not have been possible without those who care enough to sponsor these events or make donations, there is a great need in this community for this service and so far the PRC has been able to continue to be there. I Hope that you will make a contribution as the PRC desires to continue to serve in our community by providing services such as these:
- Free laboratory quality pregnancy tests
- Information on pregnancy, abortion and alternatives
- Information on RU486 and the morning after pill
- Friendship and emotional support
- Discussion of healthy sexual choices
- Referrals to community resources and agencies
- Maternity clothes, needed baby items and furniture provided through participation in our LifeSteps program
- Assistance in obtaining pre-natal care
- Prepared childbirth classes
- Guidance in parenting skills
- Ongoing peer counseling
- Abortion recovery care and education
- 24-hour helpline
This information is intended for general educational purposes only and should not be relied a substitute for professional services.
*All of our services are free and confidential. There are many ways you can get involved in supporting the PRC if you are not able to be a guest at this event you may also take the training classes to volunteer. You can call 570-424-0370 to find out when the next volunteer training class will be.
The PRC is always in need of donated items such as:
Diapers
wipes
Baby Furniture
clothing newborn to 2T
gift cards for local stores
formula
strollers
play pens
high chairs
changing tables
The PRC would not be able to function if it were not for the generosity of others.
I am so greatful for those who continue to support this ministry and all of you who are making the decision to help them continue to serve.
