Making Your Dorm Room Colorful and Enjoyable

If you are a college student living in a dorm, you will likely find that your room is bland and lacking a homey and roommy quality to it. This is because the rooms are often painted a dull white color, and the floors have no carpet. There are several things you can do to improve the quality and appearance of your room to make it feel more pleasant to you and others.

Carpet

The first thing that you can do is to buy carpet for your room. Often times, you can pick up cheap carpet from suppliers who have extra carpet that they have no need for, because it was already cut and used. Or you can purchase a nice small piece of carpet to add to the floor of your room. A welcome rug to be used right inside your door is also a nice touch.

Shelves

Often times, you will find that the dorm room you are living in a small and you don't have enough room for all of your things. Installing shelves in the unused space and hard to reach areas can help increase your ability for storage and ease the clutter that could potentially be in your room. If you are installing shelves. You'll want to be sure that you by anchors and screws so that the shelves do not fall down after you put heavy objects on them.

Christmas lights.

Another great touch for your dorm room is to buy cheap Christmas lights and string them around the room near the ceiling. If you want to ensure the bulbs last long, you can buy LED lights that will last longer and use a lot less electricity. You can use tape to secure the lights books, or the adhesive tape made by 3M.

Posters.

In order to add color to your room you can add posters to the walls. A great place to purchase posters is www.allposters.com. They have posters for all styles and flavors.

Dual monitor setup.

If you want to have a TV in your room and same time space. You can purchase an LCD TV and use it in combination with your current computer monitor for your desktop. This will allow you to have more viewing space when using a computer. If you have a laptop computer buying a look LCD TV is also a good choice, because they are smaller and take up less space than the older more standard TVs.

Stack items.

Another great way to save on space and save room is to stack items on top of each other. For example, you could stack your microwave on top of your refrigerator and your printer on top of your microwave.

Having a presentable and colorful room without too much clutter will increase your productivity and make you enjoy your college experience even more. In addition, your guests will feel welcomed and at ease.
