This dried flower flower is very easy to make and once you make it,it will last for many years without requiring any special care. you can even spray it with some pot pourri spray sometimes and the dried flowers will retain the fragrance for up to a week ,keeping your room smell fresh.
The method described below is fairly simple:
THINGS YOU WILL NEED:
- A wicker basket
- Foam
- Sharp knife
- Stub wire
- A collection of dried flowers( use bright colors such as red, yellow and orange-colored ones to create a more attractive look)
1.Shape the foam: Place your basket over a thick foam sheet and press firmly . Remove and hopefully you'll get an imprint of the base. Cut the foam around this imprint using a sharp knife. It's okay if the cut is not very neat as none of it will be seen after the final arrangement.
2.Wire the flowers together: Cut the dried stems roughly to the same length and arrange a group of flowers together to form small bunches of the same color and type of flowers. Tie them underneath with stub wire. Make several such bunches of say marigolds, sunflowers, daffodils etc..
3.Arrange the flowers in the basket: Starting from the outer most edges of foam, insert bunches of the same type of flower ,say yellow colored marigold at regular intervals all around the basket. Full the gaps between them with another type of flower which has a different color such as red or orange. Fill the centerer with slightly larger flowers bunches such as sunflowers, helichrysums or any others that are easily available to you. The closer the bunches are together, the better it is.
4.Fill in the gaps: You might find small gaps from which the foam lying underneath is easily visible. You certainly do not want this. Fill them in with sprays of small flowers such as nipplewort or dried leaves .
GIVING THE FINAL TOUCH:The display of dried flowers in a basket lasts for many years. It doesn't need much care but dusting it lightly with a small brush or a feather duster once a month will help maintain its look for all the time to come. An easier alternative is to use a hair dryer on a cool setting very gently, making sure not to bring it too close to the flowers to avoid damaging them.
