Romance! Keep the romance alive in your marriage. Even though you are married now does not let either of you off the hook of romancing each other. What was it that made you fall in love with this person in the first place? Most likely you did romance each other when you are a couple before you were married, so there's no need to stop now! Husbands: buy your wife a bouquet of flowers every week or every other week! Do the things that your wife loves to have or receive and make them a habit. Wives: make a special dinner for your husband! This will especially work if your hubby was not expecting anything in the first place. Having a candlelight dinner or even taking him out once in a while for a special meal will mean a lot to him!
Communicate, communicate, communicate! Your marriage needs communication not on a weekly basis, but on a daily basis! One suggestion for couples is to continue their love letter writing. Writing love letters to your better half will go a long way in communication. Sometimes they can be solely for the purpose of romance. But other times writing love letters is a good communication tool in its own rite! For example, do you have something that you need to get off your chest? Do you need to tell your spouse something that maybe you would feel uncomfortable saying out loud otherwise? However, this is not the time to uncover an affair as that will only create more trouble for your marriage. But writing things that may lead up to an open communication forum in your marriage will serve to make your marriage better! Also, do not forget to pay attention to nonverbal communication. A confused or hurt look from your spouse needs to be paid attention to; on the other hand, a gentle touch from your wife or husband might tell you that he or she loves you and wants to work on your marriage together. Being more keenly aware of these subtle nonverbal cues will go a long way also in improving communication!
Making sure that you provide maintenance of your marriage is crucial to the survival of it. Sure, you may love each other, but taking time for each other to have romantic occasions is equally important. Giving yourselves the time for romance and communication are vital to keeping the sparkle in your marriage alive!
