When you start selling Avon, you aren't working for Avon. That's a common misconception. You pay them 10 bucks to become an Independent Contractor. Then you buy their products and sell them to other people. If you don't get the money from your customers, then too bad. You lose.
You start out making 50% profit for all sales you make. This lasts for the first four "campaigns" , or selling periods, when you get new catalogs. Each campaign lasts for 2 weeks, so you will be getting 50% for the first 8 weeks . After that, you get anywhere from 20 to 50%, depending on the sales you make. You need to sell about $2000 worth of products to become eligible to make the fifty percent, and that is only on some products. There are many products where you will always only make 20 percent profit.
And you must deliver all of your products to your customers as well. That can take a lot of time, let alone the price of gas these days, and wear and tear on your car. The average customer only buys about $25 worth of products during any campaign. That means you will need almost a hundred customers to make the $2000 you need to get the 50% profit. That's driving to a hundred people's houses just to make $1000 dollars every two weeks.
And then you will need to pay Avon for all of your sales catalogs and materials, bags and packaging and samples, among other expenses. There is also a lot of time involved behind the scenes, filling out enormous mounds of paperwork, calling customers, calling in orders, and dealing with back orders and any problems your recruits or customers might have. And there will always be some sort of problem, with every campaign. You can count on that.
That seems like quite a bit of effort to make very, very little money. The only way to make good money from Avon is to recruit a bunch of representatives under you, and earn a small percentage from each of their sales. That means a lot of recruiting, and training the recruits. But it is possible. If you train them well to work on their own, and make a lot of sales, you may not need to do much after that. The biggest recruiters make hundreds of thousands of dollars each year. But those are few and far between.
Selling Avon is definitely only for those who like a lot of talking and socializing. You will need to be making social contacts constantly, either in direct selling, or recruiting new representatives. Not everyone is cut out for selling Avon.I certainly wasn't. I barely made my 10 dollars back. But if you are eager and persistent, and like a lot of talking, socializing, and hard work, than maybe you can make money selling Avon.

Post a CommentI have just recently started selling Avon and it has been a struggle. I love avon and I know numerous women who love avon but finding regular customers is hard. There are several women who order here and there but they get burnt out on avon because there are so many reps around this area. It is really cheap to get in to but even in my first 3 campaigns I haven't broke a 100 dollar order and let me tell you... I have been walking neighborhoods and going door to door. Handing out my money basically because every brochure that you hand out thats around 50 cent. I have invested well over what I have made which is basically nothing. I am getting very frustrated but I don't want to give up because at this point I need some kind of income and I just lost my job. My husband lost his job due to downsizing in his company about 2 months ago and now mine is gone so its been really hard. I would say to anyone who doesn't have real money to invest ... don't do it because you will not survive and you will end up with a bad taste in your mouth from it. There are very few people that I have seen that can actually live on the money they make from avon. Good luck to all who can do it but beware to those looking for instant income because it is not going to happen with avon.

It is easy to earn money selling Avon. Most reps buy more than they sell, that's why they don't realize the earnings. I plan to be an Avon rep forever. You may contact me through my website:http://www.youravon.com/cvalerie Thank you
i tried working for Avon for a while recently. It is so tempting because it is so cheap and easy to start and they make it sound so easy. Some of them started with little to no retail sales experience at all (so they say in their pitch) and supposedly make a comfortable living doing it. Sure, my first campaign I made good pocket change and the supplies you have to purchase such as catalogs and samples "pay for themselves" but when it comes to representative support, is it really worth your time and effort? Personally, Ive had crappy experience with them and they could care less about you keeping your clientele by providing good service; I had several orders that went through until the delivery when I had to call in to find that the products were NO LONGER AVAILABLE, not just sold out but no longer available as in my customers were sh*t out of luck and I had to tell them "Sorry." and also lose income for myself. Literally, customer service told me to tell my customer
Making money selling Avon is easy. Let me show you how. Visit my website at www.youravon.com/amaremoore.
Thw product is great, the price is awesome, but if you will sell Avon, you will get lots of problem with late delivery and short product
The money is in the recruiting, so milk it for all it's worth, but in the beginning, have another means of income because you have to invest to build up your business.
I've been a rep for 17 years, I have over 100 customers, each of them only places one order once every 3 or 4 months! In the end, I am lucky if I have enough left over from purchasing supplies to earn more than $20 per campaign! I DO NOT sell Avon as a way to earn a living, because really, I would need closer to 2,000 or 3,000 customers in order to do that. My grandmother from the 1920s-1980s made a full-time living on it, but she had close to 4,000 customers. My mom in the 1970s-1980s made a part time living at it, but she had over 700 customers. I am allergic to most every skin care product on the market, Avon is the ONLY company I am not allergic too. So in the end, I'm a rep, more so that I can get products for myself at a discount. I have a different job that I do for an income. I wish I could make a full time income from Avon, but the sad truth of the matter is that less than 5% for their 5.4 million reps earn anything close to being enough to live on.
As a new representative,my second order placed was over $700.This was just from 19 customers.I sell to co workers and family and friends.I don't have to drive anywhere way out of my area I don't normally drive and waste gas.I find that people are still spending even during tough times.I found ways to make a lot of extra money too. A lot of times, my customers don't take advantage of special offers available to them, and I am able to take advantage of them and make a little extra money. For example, in campaign 25, customers can purchase $20 in beauty products and get the holiday gift basket for only $1. I had several customers who did not want to take advantage of the offer, so I ordered it on their order to pay for myself when the order comes in. I ended up getting 5 of the holiday gift baskets for $4(with 20% discount) and can resale all 5 at brochure price for a total of $75and make $71 profit!! Also, the Polar Bear stocking was only $1.99 with any $10 purchase on select products.
What I wonder is where do you find a regular amount of customers who will regularly order products? Also, will many be ordering such "luxuries" during tough, unstable economic times? I am curious to find the answers to both of these questions.
