Making Hip Hop Jewelry

Many people that I know are interested in creating their own hip hop jewelry and the reason for this is obvious. Many hip hop artists go out of their way to show off their wealth and make their fans feel as if they should obtain the same items as their favorite artist. It can be hard to be a fan of Kanye West unless you have his new Nike sneaker for instance. However, I have noticed a new trend emerging in which hip hop artists are becoming more economical and watching what they spent on jewelry. This leads to the invention of the paper necklace that has been seen in public on the neck of Lil Wayne in addition to Jeezy. I have also seen many fans of hip hop music attempting to create these colorful paper necklaces and for the most part they have done a poor job. The reason for this is simply because they think that it is a lot harder than actuality and I find they take only above 10 minutes to complete from start to finish.

What you will need is one package of construction paper, one glue stick or one bottle of glue and a pair of scissors. I purchased this package of construction paper from Amazon and it works perfectly for this project and the glue can be purchased at any school supply store.

What you will need to do is open the package of construction paper and remove 20 sheets of paper. On each sheet you will want to cut a circular shape in the form of a link in order to fit them within the chain. Once you have the links cut out you will need to attach the opened link to the next piece of construction paper and glue the open end of the links shut as you progress through the construction paper. Repeat this for all 20 pieces of paper until the chain is formed and then patch up any weak areas in the paper chain with glue. You can also try the chain on and remove any links if you wish to have a better fit for your new piece of hip hop jewelry. This paper chain is a simple project and can be completed quickly by any child. This will provide them with hip hop jewelry and the unique look found on Jeezy and Lil Wayne but it will save you a ton of money in the process also.
