Making Your Keyphrases and Keywords Count for Web Traffic
Getting Your Website Ranked is Easier Than You Think
With just a little work you can discover that the keyphrase 'sea turtles' has over 8,000 searches per day, but there already exists competition from 1.5 million websites. What this means for you is that it is highly unlikely that you can be ranked highly enough by a search engine in less than a year to get noticed by web surfers - if then.
Instead you might want to make your keyphrase 'green turtle' which gets almost 3,000 searches a day but has only 500,000 competing sites. To get noticed by search engines, your next step is to identify the subsidiary keywords and phrases. These are words that engines believe should be in your content when you use the phrase 'green turtle.' You can still write about sea turtles, but by including 'green turtle,' 'green turtle club,' 'green turtles,' 'the green turtle' you will increase the exposure allowed to your site by the search engine spiders.
It is important to use the subsidiary keywords, but not at the expense of content. If you are unable to write concise content articles, it is best to pay for it. There are many article writers standing by awaiting your assignment - capable of giving you exactly what you need to 'beef up' your website.
This is, of course, only the beginning to having your website ranked by search engines, there are several other steps involved beyond keywords. Being a web developer does not stop at building something nice to look at, if you cannot help your client get ranked in search engines, you will probably lose a client. There is someone standing by ready and willing to sell your client the services needed - to go the extra mile.
Don't be afraid to take some courses, buy some training, learn how to leverage your content to get visitors. Visitors mean money to your website.
