First, let's talk about the $0.99 articles. According to the comment added next to my accepted article, it said that what my article covered was not in depth enough, but it was well written enough to be a published article on their network. Furthermore, the information has already been covered, to a similar or deeper degree. Lastly, with one of them, the reason was because, while it was a good article, there was no demand for it.
To avoid the former (not in depth enough, or already covered), before writing an article, it would be wise to check out the similar content on AC. If you are going to write about organic meat, make sure that your content contains information that the other organic meat articles does not. That way you can make a lasting impression on readers and not look like a copycat writer who is looking at other articles and just rewriting their content.
Also, make sure you always cover at least a little more than the basics. Knowing about organic meat is great, but why is it better for me? What makes it organic? Something that tells me much yearned information. Think of yourself when you read articles. Are you more interested in one that skates over basic topics, or one that delves deeply into the subject matter?
For the latter, not searched enough, this you can check on Google. There are ways to find how many times a search term has been keyed in by people from their system. If you find that a few hundred have, or less, than it is not worth AC's money to fund an article that will make little on advertisement. While I would suggest a system, there are so many that it really comes to personal preference. So just key in "keyword tracker" or "how to find highly searched keywords" and you will get a huge variety of systems to choose from, some subscriptions and some for free.
AC is funding you so you will fund them, and they want material that is both original and highly searched. Organic meat would be one, but why a printing company should create sample packets is not (which is one of my $0.99 articles).
With that out of the way, let's look at the higher paying, but still below minimum, articles.
Once again, many of them contained basic information or were not searched very highly. I made a review on a few printer companies, which was quite in depth, but only gained about $2.50. While the information was there, the need for it was not. After about a month, each article has been looked at only twice.
Yet, I made another article on college students getting a loan without a cosigner, about as deep, and made about $1.50 more than the printer reviews. That is a highly searched term, and a real worry for many students. So that article is definitely going to make them money.
You need to create articles that are powerful, well written, and have the ability to market themselves via their highly searched keywords.
So keep on researching and writing, and go beyond just the common 400 word minimum. Also make sure that you always say something unique, something that isn't well known about the topic, and you will find yourself making well above the minimum. It's all about persistence, hard work, and giving the reader something good to read.
