Making a Living on the Internet - Is it Actually Possible?

David Caywood
I know we have all seen the ads, "Make $20,236,597 Overnight!" Obviously, that will never come true for even the smartest person on the internet. Most of the time, these are just scams to sell you an overpriced E-Book then tell you how to fail at making money on Ebay. There is no overnight success on the internet and you must realize that if you are going to make it successful. There are truly only about 3 ways to make money on the internet.

The first way I am going to talk about is to sell stuff. With sites like Ebay, Craigslist and many free web storefront scripts readily available on the internet, its not hard to start selling products to people throughout the internet. Like any other business, you are going to have to spend a lot for upfront costs. You need a product to sell, money for submission fees for Ebay and hosting costs if you set up your own site. Also, if you do go the way of hosting your own site, you also may think about investing some money into a PPC (Pay Per Click) advertising program like Google Adwords. Obviously, despite it being the one you will shell out the most cash for in the beginning, it will have the biggest reward in the end.

Another way is to set up your own website. This can be anything from a blog about everyday life to a message board for poodle owners. There are many ways to go about this but it doesn't matter what you write about because its bound to attract visitors if done right. Make sure that whatever you write for your site is very high quality. Also, having first hand experience is a good thing. You don't want to start a website on how to raise a poodle if you have never owned one in your life. Now I bet your wondering how in the world am I going to earn money off a website. Its really not that hard! All you have to do is put up banner ads on your website. Nowadays, you can't go anywhere without seeing a banner ad. I bet, if you look, there is one on this page right now! Thats how the website makes money! Every time you click that ad, the website earns money. You can do that too! There are many great PPC programs out there on the internet like Google Adsense that you can earn money on. Also, having some traffic to your website would help with the clicks. You can email other people with websites and offer to trade links. By trading links, you put a link to their site on your site and they put a link to your site on their site. A majority of the time, its on the homepage! Out of all the ways, this is the easiest to set up and has the least risk.

The final way is through referral programs. A majority of the time, you play the role of the advertiser and get friends and family to join under you. A lot of the time, these are sites that give stuff away for free, pay you to read emails or offer some other kind of service. Basically, you send out a lot of referral links and when people sign up, you earn a part of the money they earn. A majority of the time, people tend to shy away from these kinds of thing but you can ultimately make a few bucks off of them. Another thing that has been going around recently are Randomizer Programs. If you haven't heard of them, here is a basis of what happens: You invest $15 to join the site. $5 of that $15 goes to the owner, another $5 to the person who referred you and the final $5 to a random member. Once you join in, you are allowed to join in and receive random $5 payments. I was wondering if these actually worked so I decided to try one out. To my amazement, the one I tried actually worked. I earned about $50 in my first week. After that week, I earned another $60. In 2 weeks, I earned $110 doing nothing. Of course, not everyone has success stories like that but they do actually work. If anyone is wondering, the randomizer that I joined was Supreme Randomizer. They are growing very fast by what the owner tells me. Though there are a few dollars to risk, you probably will still end up earning money.

Just remember, like a real business, you are taking risks and you should study what you are doing before you do them.
