Making Lost Words Indelible for My Dad

Allana Calhoun
The words that once flowed so easily

From my tongue into the air

Are long lost with my childhood

They simply are not there

Over the years our branches grew apart

You have your bouts of strife

While I am working to raise a family

And have my own worries of life

Though we see very little of each other

I know I am in your heart

When we do have a chance to talk

There's too much to even start

So as your day of the year comes again

Let me find those lost words

"Dad, I love you and always will"

May this be forever heard
