Making Money In College

Jendayi
College life can be pretty expensive. This is the time where you live on your own and support yourself. If you do not have parents who are willing to give you money for groceries, bills, or laundry then you'll find yourself in plenty of tense situations in which you'll need money quickly. If you are willing to put the effort into the following ideas, you might be able to quickly make money and get yourself out of these situations.

Do labor gigs- Check on craigslist in the gigs section for day labor jobs. Many people use craigslist to post help wanted ads. Some people need help in the form of cleaning, moving, and sorting and they will pay you the same day. If you can do a few gigs in one week you can easily bring in $200. All you need is an email account to contact the people who post the help wanted ads.

Sell your valuables- This should be the last resort. People will pay good prices for electronics such as laptops, mp3's, ipods, DVD players, DVDs, cell phones, jewelry... If you can part with some of your valuables you should be able to make a decent amount of money. You will have to sell your valuables for much less than you bought them.

Sell your school supplies- Text books, graphing calculators, flash drives, paper, notebooks, binders, pens, highlighters, pencils, markers... You can sell your school supplies to your peers for a decent amount. Place notes on your school's bulletin board to inform others that you have supplies for sale. You can also sell your book online to websites that purchase used books.

Sell food- some college students run out of food quickly; here is where you come in. Sell any extra food and snacks to your peers at a discounted price. Be sure not to make the price too high or they will not come back for more.

Type papers- Don't offer to write papers for others because this is plagiarism and you can face serious discipline. You can offer to type the written and corrected paper for your peers. They should do all of the work and all of the corrections. You will just be the typist typing up the corrected paper for them.

Edit papers- If you are skilled in editing then you can offer an editing service to your peers. Chances are you have a tutoring center at school but this center is probably opened during school hours. You can use this to your advantage and offer editing services after school hours.

Tutor for money- If you are especially good in one subject offer to tutor your peers or even younger children who need a bit of help. You can use craigslist to offer your tutoring services to kids on the parenting or education site of craigslist. Be prepared to have references on hand as parents may ask for them.

Reminder Service- College life can be hectic especially if students are working so it can be easy for students to forget important dates such as test and final dates. You can offer to remind students of important dates for a fee. You should purchase an extra large calendar so that you can write down all the important dates for you to remember to remind the students. Your life will have to be a bit flexible to remember all of the dates.

Laundry Service- Some college students are used to their parents doing their laundry and many will voluntarily wear dirty clothes until they can make that trip back home to do laundry. You can save them a trip by offering to wash and fold their laundry for a fee.

Errand service- You can offer to run errands for college students at your college to save them a trip. Errands can include grocery shopping or paying bills.

The potential to make money is there you just have to be willing to put in the time and effort to gain profit.
