Making Money and Doing What You Love?

I recently wrote an article concerning this subject. I debated whether doing something you love as a way to make an income is a good idea or not, and my view while writing that article was mostly pessimistic. I somewhat regret writing that article, as I've been doing a lot of thinking on this subject (mostly on a personal level), and I've come full circle to the exact opposite point of view.

I had written, basically, that an attempt to do something you love as a means of making money is a way to turn something you enjoy into merely something that's a chore. But I don't think that has to be the case at all. Normally, I'm extremely positive in that I think ANYTHING is possible with the right kind of mindset and motivation. I looked at personal experience (me having a hart time selling my artwork) and theorized that because I lacked success making money doing something I really love to do, that it would be a bad idea for others to try the same thing.

When you lose your positive mindset, you really do have a greater chance at failure. In fact, I think it's practically guaranteed. So what can someone learn from this?

When you fail, don't let that stop you from trying again. There are thousands of people out there who have turned a passion into a way to make money, and they have the best of both worlds. I'll bet that the majority didn't become a success overnight. I'll bet that they ran into obstacles, overcame them, and kept going until they made it.

I know it's possible, and I'm going to try again. I hope someone else out there learns from my mistakes. I'm going to get set up my studio again, and get back to doing the things I love, painting and sculpting. I don't know how to make money from it yet, but I'll figure out a way. I know a lot more about marketing and selling than I did when I first tried to sell my artwork. I now know of dozens of different selling outlets and methods. I still have more research to do, and trial and error ahead of me, but I know that with the right way of thinking, and not quitting when I get discouraged, I will get to where I want to be.
