Making Money on Ebay: Is it Really as Easy as They Say?

John Walton
If your looking for a little extra cash, millions of people flock to Ebay to try and strike it rich, but how are your chances there? Theres books and guides everywhere that claim if you buy them, they can key you in on the secrets to ebay success. Ive tried a few of them and thought it was pretty general common sense knowledge, don't get me wrong, there might be a really good guide out there, but i haven't found it yet.

The competition on ebay now is just astronomical. No matter what you want to sell, there will be a whole list of people who are selling the same thing. Because of this new competition on ebay, you will usually have to sacrifice your desired earnings just to make a sale. If you want anyone to even bid on your product initially you will most likely have to start the bidding at one penny, I personally wouldn't sell anything that isn't very well known because you will most always get robbed.

If you want to get hooked up with a wholesaler, you can actually make some money, but i am not entirely sure its worth the hassle. I'm not saying its to much work for anyone, i personally would do it if i had money to start up with, but unless you have a couple thousand dollars to drop on 40 ipods to then resell on ebay and have the time to go down to the post office every day and pack and ship off all your ipods then it doesn't really work out. If you don't have a job at all however, this might be a great way to earn some extra cash.

Another thing about ebay is that no one wants to buy from someone that doesn't have any sales history, or any positive feedback yet. So its actually pretty hard to get started in the first place. Unless you want to go out and buy a bunch of cheap ebooks to try and get them to return positive feedback to you, its pretty hard to get the ball rolling. I suggest doing just that, try to find about 50 ebooks for a penny each with free shipping, then return them positive feedback, and most times they will return the favor. If they don't you can always ask them to.

As far as I am concerned i think ebay works great for the people who have already been using it for years and have access to all the wholesale hot spots, but for the new guy, who doesn't really know how to get started, doesn't have any sales history, and doesn't have wholesale access, i think your better off just sticking around here at associated content.

It is refreshing to hear an honest assessment of ebaby! I feel the same about AC, it's good for the old-timers or people who write for Search Engines and can pop out 20 minute forumla articles that appeal to the taboloid crowd. I understand their need to earn revenue to pay CP's but am a little tired of the chicken ad popping up and hoovering everytime I post a comment.
