Making Money on eHow

Paul Mann
Getting money on eHow isn't difficult, if you know how to write your how to of course. Though you may want to write about things you are passionate about and really love (for example I wrote about writing, after 16 articles and over a month I have only gained $2.18) you have to write them in the right way to get the full potential out of eHow.

Though their process of calculating your profits is supposed to be secret, it is fairly easy to recognize that the real way you are getting paid is by a certain share of the text links clicked.

You will notice on your article and everyone else's that text links from Google and a few other sources are posted around your how to. Sometimes they link up to the topic of the how to, sometimes they don't (we will return to this point soon).

So, what do you do to gain money?

You have to write in a way that doesn't reveal everything about your topic. Broaden understanding, but don't tell them every little nitty gritty thing about whatever you are writing about. Allow the text links to take care of that part. Rather, pique your reader's interest and still give them information, but satisfy them just enough so they are craving more.

One good way of doing this is finding the text links that surround the topic you are preparing to write about. What do they offer, and how can you push your reader onto them without telling them to click the link (since that is illegal by Google standards and will either forfeit all your money, get you banned from eHow, or other things you just don't want to go through)?

For example, to take writing again, say there is a text link about self publishing. Write enough about the topic, but say that the writer has to take care of the ISBN and that they have to find a good company to take care of their printing. Thereby they know they need to look further than your article, yet you are still giving them much needed information. At this point the reader would usually research on Google to find a printing company, but wait! Remember that text link we talked about earlier? The information is right there and easy to find. Whether they click out of interest or just to see what is offered doesn't matter at this point, you have gained a click and thus a small amount of money is added to your account.

Now, how do you coordinate the text link ads to your topic? You don't want a how to about writing to have ads about toilets or shoes. We're going to talk about SEO basics to complete this task. SEO stands for Search Engine Optimization. To achieve the much wanted ads, just write your key word several times throughout the how to.

I will talk about good and bad SEO in another article, but first you have to select a key word. Again, let's stick with writing. Take derivatives of it to broaden your selection. Writer, writes, write, etc. Write the key word in the article (believe me, it is easier than you think to write an article about a topic and not once say the major key word in there) as many times as you can without sounding redundant.

This lets Google know what the article is about, and when they place the ads in your article they will actually emulate the topic you wrote about. Also when your link is submitted to Google (something you have to do yourself, it's very easy to do) chances of it popping up are much higher.

Follow this writing method and you will find your occasional dollar or two will increase dramatically.
